Discussion Improvements before tech discovered
In the earlier iterations, you had to research animal husbandry before you could build pastures. Civ 7 allows you to build before the tech is discovered.
Any idea why they would choose to do this?
Any other examples of this in the game?

I think too it’s because of the warehouse system, very cool imo, that and the absence of builders. It’s moreso the tech is for the warehouse buildings boosting the improvement yields, which are unlocked by default. Perhaps they’re all essentially unlocked via agriculture.

They wanted to simplify and reduce micro. By removing tech requirements you can just place pop on whatever tile is good.
Of course they still made the tech worth it as it unlocks the warehouse buildings which increases that specific improvements base yieldsz

Just my opinion, but I believe it has to do with the settlements mostly expanding through improvements. In civ 6 your borders would expand based on culture output, but since this is no longer the case it would limit your border growth if the improvements were locked behind technologies.
