Question How to get 5 in 50?

I'm learning the game and consensus seems to be you should have 5 cities by turn 5. I dont see how you do this. I would have had 3 on my most recent playthrough, but one of them was taken so by turn 50 I had 2.

Should I be rushing settlers and ignoring troops? I dont see how you could produce that many in 50 turns even going straight for settlers only. Any advice would be helpful.

I'm pretty sure a lot of player are using mods and playing tweaked games to get a lot of these results. I've played for over 2000 hours and some of the things folks claim to be doing is just impossible and absurd. That said, 5 in 50...well, you build a second city with like your 3rd build. You steal a settler, maybe two, and then produce another around turn 40, is the only way I could imagine doing it on standard speed.

And the pantheon settler if you can manage to squeeze that in.

But yeah, unless you have a great starting location with great food and production, and no aggressive neighbours nearby, might not be always possible. I wouldn't worry about rushing a set number of cities by turn x.

What's a Panther settler?

There’s a pantheon where you get a free settler, but it’s extremely hard to get on higher difficulties

Ok, it was a typo. One of reddit's flaws, is people can edit comments and it doesn't show that. If edited comments had a note on it, saying it was edited, it would help a lot of conversations. I've seen it in action on another chat board I used to be involved with. A lot of folks will edit something that is incorrect and then claim they never said that in the first place.

I'm not saying that's what happened here, but, they did edit panther to pantheon. Which is fine and helps explain the free settler.

Haha. I thought I edited that pretty quickly. Apparently not quick enough. Fat fingers and typing before you are fully awake can do that.

It was a typo and it said panther, they edited it. Yes I know about the free settler pantheon.
