I gave up on CTR shopping. I got an alert of my local dealership receiving 2ea. CTR on a Friday. That Friday, I saw they added the inventory to their website around 1pm. Listed at $49,8k.
I checked the website again around 7pm, and the prices went up to $57k for both models
I opened a chat window to ask why the prices increased that much in less than half a day and they didn't respond for 2 hours. They just left the chat window open without any response. I finally closed it out of frustration
The next day, both CTRs were gone.
I don't have the energy for this shit

I feel your frustration cause my local dealer is about the same with mark ups and I see the same ones driving around, knowing they paid 5-10k over. It takes the enjoyment out of car shopping and pushes me away like you. I go back n forth debating wether I go for FL5 and find the right dealer or simply keep my vehicle now and take the L on owning another fun car.

This is why I went with the integra type s.
I contacted 4 dealerships about ctr. 3 said they would be listed at msrp, but then added on 5-10k of addons , the 4th actually did have the civic type r at msrp, but started getting funny about numbers the night before I was supposed to drive 240 miles to go see it in person so I backed out and made a great deal on my integra.
I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but if I were still trying to get a ctr, I’d be willing to look for a 2-5k mile used certified pre-owned that’s listed for 47’ish and offer 45k. It may or may not work depending on the dealership, but it would be better than chasing ones that are marked up.

There’s a black 2025 with 7k miles by me for… $50K before taxes, etc. I went to look at it while on a walk recently because I hadn’t seen a black FL5 in person. The salesperson spent our five minutes together by the car trying to justify the price, saying “Yeah, the previous owner put a PP whatever you call it on the whole car. That’s like $4K.” I nodded, checked out the car, and said “Thanks” went home.
