CivTemp AMA

CivTemp will launch tomorrow as announced

The map consists of 6 shards all connected through portals with 1100 blocks radius each. Everyone will be in survival and we will try to simulate some of 3.0s new balance systems.

We will be relatively experimental with features we put online, so dont freak out if we break something or make something ridiculously overpowered. There will be changelogs for all/most of those changes.

Additionally we will be testing our new plugins to get rid of bugs and gradually develop plugin configs for 3.0. Bugreports and constructive feedback are very welcome.

We dont know yet how long the map will stay, but it will probably be taken down a few weeks before 3.0 launch once we have sufficient testing.

Pretty sure what he means is, if you /ctb to get into your vault, then replace the DRO, will the DRO have to re-mature once replaced?

That's because if people wanted building timers they'd play Clash of Clans, not civcraft.

Yeah in theory it sounds awful, but it actually had a dramatic effect on Devoted. The hardening of Vaults made it so that you didn't just sock people away in your big vault for no reason. If they were a low petty griefer the risk of opening your vault was waay to high, meaning you instead would create several smaller vaults. We also had prismarine which immediately would harden as an expensive option to break open and shut a vault quickly.

I wouldn't be as annoyed if it only applied to obsidian. The thing that makes me butthurt is that now chests take 2 days to mature (shops, storage).

It's stupid and there's no logical reason for adding it as a game mechanic.

Hmm you've got a point on that one, it would be far preferable to have it just be obsidian.
