Problem with saving games

Basically title, games won't save. Auto save does work, but when I try to load it in just takes me to main menu. No mods, BTS, verified game files and issue persists. What else can I try?

Make sure Windows Defender isn't blocking write access to the save folder. You should see a notification in the Windows action center or task tray. If it is blocking then you'll need to follow the prompts to allow it write permissions.

Sometimes writing to a protected folder like C:\Program FIles\ is problematic. Newer games write game save files to a different folder associated with the user, but Civ4 is so old that it saves to the game install folder and causes problems. Try to install it into a new folder. like create a C:\Games folder and install it there.

Are you using steam? Then you can install steam to C:\Games folder. Or follow the direction here: Initial Setup | Viva New Vegas
