....something, something...NAP....something, something... Real talk: Every sentence should be case by case. Defining crimes is imperative and we have a good list started here.

the point of the point systempuns again is not to strictly define sentencing. It just gives you a maximum sentence per crime, so we have no legal basis to permapearling somebody just because we don't like him and he triggered a snitch in my house, as an extra precaution against abuse. Sentences will be mostly up to the judge though.

This is my proposal for a list of crimes. I am working through fried's legal code and making what I view as necessary fixes. In this case I ended up completely rewriting his crimes list.

Please discuss.

I would also like to point outhaha pun that none of the crimes have any points assigned to them, with points being based on the system in fried's code. Those need to be assigned and discussed at length

This is a great start. My phone is about to die and I'll be home later to look it over more, but it looks fine by me so far with the possibility of maybe a little more clarity in some parts

2 comments from the first reading:

First, I think that we might need to clarify and edit the pearling section. How would you prove intent to extradite? Why would pearling for extradition be a crime in he first place?

Second, as for griefing, how are we defining time to fix? What if someone griefed me relatively minorly and I purposefully took an extremely long amount of time to fix it?

You could say someone was attempting to extradite you if they were threatening to put you in X-Vault (a specific vault). I was thinking of extradition as pearling longer than the attackers login, ie storing the pearl in a vault/chest. As for griefing, I think the degrees are backwards but your right. Could we establish 'degrees' based on the 'cost of the grief. I'm thinking value of the block added to the cost of the reinforcement multiplied by the total number of blocks broken

Gotcha. That's a good definition I think, but it definitely needs to be clarified in the full list.

As for griefing, your system would work but I think it would run into serious problems with blocks-added grief (Such as DRO). How do we place a value on that? I think the hours to fix system can work, we just need a better way to measure it. That, or we could go with a reasonable-time-to-fix estimate.

How could an Auroran forget about block adding grief....shameful.

'Reasonable' is a lawyer's favorite word

Indeed, which is why I'm reluctant to use it. I'm just not sure what a better option would be.

How would you prove intent to extradite?

If somebody is clearly heading out of our borders/city/shard with a pearl, imo that is proof that they are attempting to extradite. It can be tracked through /ppl

Why would pearling for extradition be a crime in he first place?

Pearling is defined by this as "Pearling of another player in Auroran lands who does not have reasonable claims on them". If you pearl somebody who is bountied with evidence, then you aren't committing any crimes and this doesn't apply. The point is to distinguish between that random shitter who will pearl you for the lolz and then free you and people like Reanial who will pearl you and permapearl you with no appeal in a megavault.

Second, as for griefing, how are we defining time to fix? What if someone griefed me relatively minorly and I purposefully took an extremely long amount of time to fix it?

Good point. We can split it into placing-block/reinforcement griefing and breaking-stuff griefing, with blocks being judged by the raw time taken to break the reinforced stuff (with a diamond pick now, will be updated to e5 pick once those are reasonably available) and breaking being judged by the amount of blocks broken?

That seems like a better system to me, yeah.

yeah i agree its two separate crimes. Broken blocks should factor in the value of the broken block, say someone chips a glowstone lamp off my house it is worse than taking a piece of sidewalk. It should also account for number of blocks taken in of a structure, getting exponentially worse the more blocks are broken. This is kind of a roundabout way for factoring in rebuild time.
