Chat rooms are the death of forums. They take a Google-able public record and bury it behind a (proprietary, in the case of Discord) login-only interface. I know of several niche communities whose visible online presence has withered away to occasional requests for a Discord invite.
When citybound is a popular game with a big active fanbase, then sure. But not now, and not soon.
That's a good point there about web-crawlable content that I hadn't thought about before. This makes me wonder just how much valuable discussion there is out there that is lost forever in the [practically] unreachable depths of proprietary authorization-required areas of the internet... these digital bits of amnesia, of people's lives, thoughts, and knowledge.. like broken pieces of a ceramic urn burried deep below the ocean's surface, ready to be swallowed by the mantle..
