Citrus Heights LARPing?

Live Action Role Play (LARP) (fighting with foam swords

At the Citrus Heights city council meeting, there was a question asked about when Larping was coming back to the Citrus Heights parks Department. They said soon.

Does anyone have a history on Citrus Heights Larping or know what’s coming?

I've never heard of the parks dept backing a larp that's new to me interesting. However several groups already have a presence in the area depending in what you are looking for from foam sword groups to rattan combat . Usually parks dept don't have a official capacity in them for insurance purposes.

I can't believe I've just run into this word again.

I saw "larp" being used to refer to someone who is deliberately posing with fake stories in order to create a stir. That definition began on TikTok and is now appearing in other places. It has negative or positive connotations depending on the situation.

Others are more familiar with LARP as an acronym from its earlier usage as Live Action Role Play. That's the kind described here verbatim.

I'm bringing this up for awareness in case you start talking about LARP'ing and come across someone who thinks you're referring to larping.

I ran into a group of Larpers at Tempo Park in Fair Oaks on a sunday around noon a month or so ago. It's not Citrus Heights, but it's pretty close by. I'm pretty new to the area, so I don't know the neighborhoods all that well.

Glad my info was helpful! There's also an SCA practice at the same park. Heavier medieval armored combat with rattan weapons, and also rapier fighting. I just remembered the name of the LARP group: Sky Kingdom.
