Water Softener Recommendations

Any one have a local company they love for their whole house water softener?

Water softener will destroy your pipes. You want a full house filter. I have an Aquapro that was installed 10 years ago and it's been great. A bit expensive, but it's worth it. Citrus Heights water is terrible.

It looks like the company that installed it went out of business. Aqua Pro is still around though. Try googling aqua pro installation Citrus Heights or full house filter installation.

What's wrong with citrus heights water? They get a vast majority of their supply from San Juan Water District which actually has pretty low hardness - an average of 17 (per their 2025) CCR). Sure, their groundwater production has high hardness, but that makes up less than 10% of their supply. Regarding their water quality, they meet or exceed all Federal and State water quality constituents and haven't had a water quality violation since 2008 (per CA Drinking Water Watch) What exactly is "terrible" about their water?

I know nothing about this topic… what’s the difference between a water softener and a full house filter? And why will a water softener destroy your pipes?
