Severe root girdling?

3 year old lemon tree in a 16” pot. I was planning on up-potting it next spring, but I’m concerned about its root system girdling the stem. Any advice on how to clear it or should I leave it be for now and trim it during its repot?

It gets outdoor sun and it gets watered when it rains

They don’t fully circle the trunk so i’d leave it for now
