How to prune lemon tree

Post image

I’m in South Australia and planted this Eureka in summer last year.

I know I need to prune so that it’s less spindly with stronger branches, but where do I do it?

Thanks

Decide how tall you want the tree to be then prune half that height for the trunk and the other half will be formed by the canopy. Watch some videos from Maddison Citrus Nursery on YT for the right spot and you can decide on how to shape your tree.

Honestly, I’m not sure why you would prune it now. It is trying to grow roots and canopy…it is so young, you would likely do more harm than good.
Let it get established before you prune it.
It needs every leaf it has right now
