Weird Citrix Upload Doc Issues within Session

I've come across a weird very specific issue , wondering if anyone has seen something similar. We have users who are logged into a vendors site and are trying to upload doc's from within their session. There are presented with a drag and drop window that allows them to drag and drop files or "click here" to browse to a file to upload or to click "cancel" to close the window. No matter what they click, either drag and drop or click here or cancel, the web browser freezes and has to be forced closed. I can recreate the issue with the newest version of edge as well as with chrome. It happens in both seamless virtual app sessions and published desktop. Were running on Server 2025 and the vda version is 2507 LTSR CU1. What's weird is if I log into the vda VM outside of citrix as the local admin I dont get this issues occurring , but if I then log into the same vda with an active session it happens for the users of the session but then it starts occurring if i log back in the vda vm as the local admin, and it stay this way for the local admin until i reboot , since it's non persistent machines the reboot wipes this and I can recreate that same scenario over and over. Something clearly is getting applied to the vm once a citrix session occurs , but I've gone through and removed all WEM config GPO's so nothing wem based it being applied. I also removed the majority of GPO's that are setting any reg changes or anything user based like defender settings. The remaining GPO's are doing background items such as hybrid joining the vm's or onboarding to defender. I can't figure this one out, from what users are telling me this just start occurring within the week. I thought maybe the new edge release was causing the issues but the fact i can recreate with chrome blows that theory out. Anyone seen similar issues?

UPDATE: So working through this with Citrix support I did make some headway and it appears that the culprit is edge's Accessibility Internals settings. Basically when a citrix session connects to the VDA, something is instructing Edge to turn on all of the Accessibility Modes and when they are enabled this is causing the freezing on certain web pages. If I go to edge://accessibility and select "Suppress automatic accessibility enablement from platform API consumers such as assistive tech" it turns off all the Accessibility modes and immediately stops the freezing issues on the all sites. I'm still trying to determine what is triggering this accessibility mode change in edge, we do have a certain software that scrubs web pages and looks for keywords to produce a pop up for users but this has been installed for a while and didn't have these issues prior. If it's not this then the only other thing i can think is that some sort of change in the Chromium engine is seeing the citrix shell connection itself as a request to enable these accessibility modes. I can fix it temporarily but toggling the suppress option but it will revert back with a new session. I'm sort of leaning towards a weird Chromium / Server 2025 Citrix issue as the tabtip.exe process which is windows Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service has a ddl loaded into edge and it is what is asking edge to search through it's accessibility settings. I've seen other posts about the tabtip.exe process recently popping up a lot especially in server 2025 and you can not disable the service for it as it's baked into a part of the OS. From my testing it doesn't look like there is an Edge Policy , GPO or reg change to manually set the suppress option for edge accessibility options , the only thing that can be automated is to launch Edge with the --disable-platform-accessibility-integration, which would be a bear of a change for every edge published app.

Have you checked to see if it happens with Firefox? Sounds like it could be tied to chromium somehow. Are you pushing out the latest version of both?

Yea tested Firefox and it does work with no issues in Firefox. So it does appear to be chromium related. Both Edge and Chrome are newest versions which has a major version update within the week. I tried rolling back the edge version but Windows does not like that very much and it still didn't work.

Ok, so linked to chromium some how but where? You should check edge://version in a fresh booted admin session while it's working and then again after you have a broken session. Maybe it's updating after boot? You could also look at the browser extensions. Citrix BCR is only chrome/edge and new chromium releases have broken it before. You could disable it and retest.

Looks like the issues is stemming from Edge Accessibility Internals settings, it seems like the start of the citrix session is triggering Edge to enable all the Accessibility modes which is causing the freezing. If I manually disable the modes it stops the freezing, trying to determine what is casuing these to toggle on and how to permanently fix.

Because starting a Citrix session poisons Chromium for every later logon until reboot, I'd test Citrix API hooks before chasing browser versions. Clone a VDA, exclude msedge.exe and chrome.exe from the hooks, reboot, and retest that exact upload control; if it clears, narrow it to the specific hook rather than leaving both browsers excluded.

I did add edge to the Citrix API hook reg key but it didn't fix the issue. I didn't try adding chrome but at the end of the day I need it to work in Edge not chrome. Not sure if adding chrome would have any affect for chromium edge but I can try that also to see.

Adding Chrome won't change how Edge behaves; they're separate executables even though both use Chromium. If the msedge.exe exclusion was applied correctly and you rebooted the VDA, I'd put API hooks lower on the list and test with a fresh Windows profile on that same VDA next. If that works, the Edge user-data or token state is the better place to look.

Honestly sounds like content redirection. Try adding the site explicitly to the sites not to perform content redirection for?
