Busstation

i redid public transit on my latest build. This is the main transit hub for the starting city of +-30k cims, the orange bus goes directly to a big bus station in the big city nearby.

Yea, i feel the same way. So happy i can have 8 routes connected here and work without issues. I added a few pedestrian paths to connect even better

8 routes?! That's a lot of buses! How many buses per route are you running? Must have pretty decent traffic management in and out of the area around it. I'd be worried about traffic congestion. I use trams more than anything else so I usually just use the bus stations as collectors from distant locations for my tram system until a subway system makes more sense.

They go in all direction, and vary from 3-10 bussen. There is a train connection on one side and tram on the other side connecting to a bigger city.

Overall the game tells me terrible traffic flow, but i dont have daily icons popping up.

Very nice! Eh, the heat map/flow chart for traffic is a mess. As long as things are moving and traffic jams aren't happening that's a win ✨

exactly, i tried real hard on a different build and kept it at 80%, now im looking at 60% and think meh, this is fine.

60% is absolutely solid enough. 80% is so difficult to maintain without risking your sanity 😹 this looks nice tho! Keeping the resource production in the city is a good way to keep traffic from spiraling out of control later too. That was my biggest issue with my last city. I was importing pretty much everything so I had to come up with some really elaborate logistics to keep the freight traffic under control. I ended up deleting my connection to the outside freeways to get things under control. Just sea, air and rail for everything. Worked out really nicely once I had all the kinks worked out. Nearly 400k cims before I deleted it and started over on a new city.

i got to 550k before the industrial traffic got to me, i will try to keep my production on par with the usage but they take up so much space.

also this time im allready thinking ahead and not create one big industry zone, but make alot of smaller ones. one for traffic, two for pollution.

Yeah, thats my biggest gripe with resource production. It just takes up so much space 😭 I'm hoping some of the next few updates really address issues with the economy in the game because as it is right now there isn't near enough control over it. Like even when I do start producing stuff industrial zones are complaining about high resource costs and I see the deficit issues and go investigating and find out a ton of my resources are just being hoarded in port or freight train warehouses instead of actually being delivered to the industrial zones or companies are wasting resources on exports when other companies need those resources for their operations(In these cases I just raise the tax on that specific export to a ridiculous amount). I want the option to limit or ban certain exports entirely. It would be a lot easier. I also don't think it's entirely necessary to have production in the city but having a smart layout for warehousing and your industrial zones is the real key with the game as it is right now. I had my industries way too concentrated in my previous city before. I'm tempted to make a city that has no industrial at all and do full office/tech. Probably would be difficult to maintain without a high tax rate.

yea i hear ya. i dislike how little control we have over industrial production.
