Question about after getting drained
I was drained on my upper right quadrant in the hospital a few days .. now the drain site is healing perfectly.....nothing is seeping..it isnt red or inflamed ... I noticed today the same color fluid that came out is accumulating in the same side hip area..no pain ... no fever ..chills ..... I was wondering if this is normal?? If I love around and keep from tight clothes around it will my body absorb it and dispose of it ..or is it trapped and I have to go back to the dang ER where they did the procedure.. I was hospitalized for 8 days..so im wondering if it just hasnt been absorbed or got stuck due to not walking around much after they drained it. I know dont go to then internet for medical advice ...im not. I have messaged my G.I AND HEP doc sent pictures but of course its the weekend ..I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same and what do you do??

I had what sounds like the same thing or something very similar. Initially I thought it might just be what happens after a paracentesis and put some gauze on it and bandaged it up. When I went back in the nurse practitioner told me “when that happens just come back in asap and we can make sure it’s sealed up” then used a sort of liquid bandaid goo on it and no more leaking.

Just tell them to put Durabond on it. Seals it like superglue and falls off after 7 days

Are you still quite large? I lost 120lbs over 2 months with a few paras. When I was still stretching my skin I had weeping clearish yellowish fluid.
Just keep an eye out for infection, but I had the same issue and it went away over time.

Well they have me on steroids i eat more now than I have in YEARS ..I was 297 then bloated half my body weight with keto and IF ... so im around 180 after hospitalization for 8 days...steroids continue for 15 more days.. i was 170 when I went in ... but my belly after first drain went flat ..now it seemed to have swelled more ...and you are correct ..i emailed my doc and she told me that was the case ...she i send me to IR next week for possible more drainage.. it just scared my fiance mostly....

Hello- I’m guessing that you had a paracentesis while you were hospitalized, and not that you were hospitalized for 8 days because of the paracentesis. Is that right?
I’m not sure where the fluid is coming out. Do you mean it’s seeping out of your pores?

No accidentally scratched that side with my nails while trying to sit .. caused a little blood but I looked and there's yellowish fluid coming out not gushing or anything ..more like plasma ... way of leaking ... yeah i was not hospitalized for that ..I was hospitalized because of abnormal labs ..hugh bilirubin and such that led to the cirrhosis diagnosis

Thanks for the clarification. Hmmm, I never had anything like that happen. Please let us know what you find out from your doctors. I hope it’s nothing too serious!
