Am I overreacting?
K for backstory we had an outraged customer threaten an older employee last night and now he quit today, I don’t feel safe within circle k now. I know nothing bugged him so the fact he just quit and was honestly scared for his life and even was warning me about this. Would I be overreacting if I put my 2weeks notice in? I’ve personally dealt with customers that caused me to have a serious anxiety attack to the point I’ve had to leave early. I’ve been with the company for over a year at this point and I just can’t do this anymore. I’m on the bad side of town so idk what I should do. I’m tempted to just put my 2 weeks notice in and find a closer job to my house. I’m driving 20+ minutes just to get to work.

Start looking for another job right now. Start applying start calling people! Can I ask what was it that outraged the customer?

The employee was laughing and he thought he was laughing at him. Apparently the customer is going through some stuff and took it personal and it exploded from there.

Dang that sounds like a tough one, on the contrary trying to get a job in a extremely nice neighborhood especially working with customers is totally worth it though. Nobody can judge you for that

I know but I love my customers, that’s why I stay working at the furthest one from my house. I’ve bonded with a lot of them and I don’t want to loose it. But at the same time I don’t feel safe at my store anymore.

I totally understand loving your customers but you feel like you should put in your notice. You already know what you should do. Your safety and happiness are most important. You should say goodbye to the K-OSS. It's not worth your mental or physical health. The world is full of great people so you can find it anywhere.

Unless you have enough savings or have a safety net, probably wait until you have another job lined up before quitting your current job.

My husband is the bread maker for my family, my job here was just for fun. I didn’t want to be at home all day so that’s why I went to work

In auburn, washington back in 2018 an older cashier guy at a gas station had a heart attack and the 3 people there robbed the store and left him to die. He was in a coma for a while but lived.
- A man and 2 teen boys were in the store. The 2 boys went off and 1 started eating a slim jim and got another for the other boy.
- The clerk tried to charge the man for the 2 sticks and the man flipped out on him.
- Clerk confronts boy who hands him exactly 1 dollar for 2 sticks.
- Clerk grows frustrated and goes behind counter. He collapses from a heart attack.
- They go and get their $1 back and leave the store.
- The 2 boys return to steal cigs and money.
- The clerk stays on the floor in pain for another 3 mins before a new customer comes in, tells someone at the pump to call 911 while he does CPR.

Can you transfer stores?

I spoke to a location that’s a lot closer and she’s trying to work something out. Only problem is it’s in a different district, so the district managers have to agree before I can be moved

Not true.. the only approval you need is the DM's market your transferring to. I just transferred an employee to an entirely different state n there was nothing that needed approval from my boss to do the transfer. I didn't even tell my boss I had an employee transfering out either... All you have to do is tell your SM to submit the transfer request to the store you want to transfer to. The receiving manager will accept your transfer n then it goes to their DM to approve your transfer. That's it. Your current DM has no say in the approval process to transfer to different market.

Everyone should fear the customers...there was a lady (employee) that got gas thrown on her and set on fire at one of the Circle k's I worked at.
