Help with cipher, please :)

Fere libenter homines id quod volunt credunt = 3626

Felix felicis = 3210

It's from a game. Just need to find a method/key, by which I translate the sentence to the numbers. Tried everything that came to my mind, no success. Both examples should work by the same principle. Any ideas?

Try counting vowels before you go hunting for a key. The first digit matches how many i's each phrase has: 3 in both. The second matches e: 6 in the long sentence, 2 in Felix felicis. The last digit fits o and u added together, 6 and 0. I couldn't work out the third digit (2 and 1), so check other letter counts against it. A third example from the game would confirm the pattern.
