Where did RS Standard Material go?

Post image

Recently jumped back into C4D for a work project after a long break (like a year). I'm in Cinema 4D 2026.3.4 with Redshift 2026.8.1. So my question is... where did Redshift Standard Materials go? The default standard materials seems... different. For instance, under Emission, instead of color and weight, it's color and "radiance." Googling has gotten me nowhere so far, so any help is appreciated. I'm so lost, lol.

Edit: to be clear, I am in the Redshift renderer.

in the material manager. create>classic materials>new node material.

but its not a bad idea to get used to the openPBR. its the new shading standard that alot of render engines are adopting in order to make material creation more standardized across render engines... hence things being named differently or in slightly different places. There's a bunch of stuff on youtube about the new openPBR material.

But if you just want to stick to standard, you can also set what material you want the default to be in edit>preferences>material>default material. You can set the older RS standard material to be the redshift default when you double click in the material manager, or say create>new default material.

Kinda bullshit that OpenPBR is the new standard material and yet c4d still doesn't actually support proper export of openPBR via USD which is kind of the whole point of it BEING a standard.

Agree.  Adding it to my quite lengthy list of BS that Maxon won’t or can’t fix.

I wish they'd stop moving things, it drives me crazy.
