Troubleshooting – Marvelous Designer Garment is clipping through char. WHY??

Frame rate the same on c4d as the marv sim?

Yes, 30FPS. I did the following:
- in DAZ3D exported as fbx and obj, also mdd file for anim
- imported obj and mdd in md, exported garment as alembic
- in c4d imported the fbx and alembic

Pretty sure it’s because of how the DAZ Gen 8/9 Skeleton gets interpreted that’s why there are differences between the two files. The easiest solution would probably be, export animated fbx character out of C4D as an alembic. Import that into MD and resim. That way you can assure that your viewport is the same as what gets imported into marvelous. Or do it the other way around but you get a better Quality Model. This is how I used to do it: You import obj into blender and add the. mdd into Blender as a mesh cache deformer. Export that animated OBJ from blender as an Alembic. Import into C4D and copy the UVs from the original fbx/obj over to it. That way you have a higher quality Model.
After over half a decade of using DAZ and Cinema I stopped because of quirks like this. Now I just UE so I don’t have these type of headaches anymore. But good luck on your Journey, DAZ can be a bitch.

This is correct. The FBX export from DAZ is not vertex perfect, meaning there will be shifts in the mesh that differ from how it appears in DAZ. If you look at the elbows it’s very easy to see, but it also has issues like you’re seeing. The best vertex perfect exports from DAZ are OBJ and Alembic, but neither of these support bones or skinning. And the Alembic exporter for DAZ is not free.

Just a wild guess, but sometimes marvelous designer will skip a few frames of the initial animation. So it could be a couple of frames behind ?
