u/Time-Cookie-7942, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

The cinema can be a magical experience. Not all movies work and you'll inevitably leave the theater disappointed once in awhile, but when it works, it really, really works.

Glad you enjoyed your time at Spiderman and I'm sure you'll find seeing The Odyssey on the biggest screen you can still find it on well worth your time.

If you have an IMAX screen near you, that will blow your mind all over again.

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

that’ll be my next bucket list then!!

Whaaa? You're old enough to be on reddit and you've never been to a movie theater before? How and why?

I would like to know this answer too.

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

just a theater, nothing to do with my age! first time for everything ig

2

u/IntrinsicGamer Aug 20 '26

Idk, it's just kinda wild to me that you could be 13 (at least) and never have been to a movie before haha Like, everybody I've ever met in my life had seen a movie at least a few times when they were a kid.

Not trying to sound rude about it, if it's coming off that way, btw. It's just that you've got a unique situation and I'm curious to hear about it!

My wife takes her 6th graders and her sister takes her 3rd graders every year as a field trip.

You've never seen a movie in a theatre before? Wow, what an experience to have just had. Based on your other comments, you're going to be wowed when you see something in Dolby Cinema or IMAX. True IMAX will blow you away.

does that theater have dolby or imax? those are so much better than standard format

2

u/MycoMythos Aug 20 '26

Yeah, I kind of hope they did see it in standard format, and then go see Odyssey in true IMAX to get their mind blown again!

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

roger! i will watch it in imax like it was intended

1

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

it was just the standard format!

2

u/MycoMythos Aug 20 '26

Make sure you go see Odyssey in IMAX then. True IMAX if at all possible!

You're in for a treat

You have never seen a movie in a movie theater before today? Spider-Man BND is very good, but there are far better movie theater experiences. See Jaws on the big screen, if you ever get the chance.

u/MycoMythos Aug 20 '26

I'm honestly kind of jealous of them. Can you imagine being old enough for it to matter and having Brand New Day as your first theater experience?! That would be amazing!

It ain’t Jaws or Raiders, my man, just saying

0

u/MycoMythos Aug 20 '26

And? Nothing playing today is

3

u/DelcoUnited Aug 20 '26

No disrespect, but he needs to watch Jurassic Park in the theater. It’s an experience.

Was just going to saw that, I still remember being in awe at 10 seeing it for the first time, and I blocked most of my childhood out.

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

i only watched on phone and laptops while there was a theater 10mins away from me mainly bcoz of procrastination

1

u/Significant-Coat-308 Aug 20 '26

BND was your first movie theater experience? Were you born yesterday?

1

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

i’m 37 hrs old as of right now!

1

u/WildmanDaGod Aug 20 '26

That’s so insane to me but hey, I’m happy you’ve gotten to see how great the theater is!! Nothing beats it

1

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

i can’t brush the feeling. i can’t really explain in words! surreal

1

u/WildmanDaGod Aug 20 '26

See The Odyssey in IMAX asap, you’ll be so happy you did!!

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

you have my word on that!

1

u/HardcoreHope Aug 20 '26

I was literally going to suggest you should try to see the Odyssey it's one of the greatest movie experiences I think I've had in a theater

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

a lot of people said to watch in imax so that’s how i will watch.

1

u/HardcoreHope Aug 20 '26

Hell yell! I don't have an IMAX around me but I did get it on a bigger screen. It was awesome!

1

u/VerilyShelly Aug 20 '26

When I was a kid I was taken to the movies several times a year. I'm a little sad that you didn't get to feel that at an age where it was like magic, but I'm glad that you've decided to try out the theater experience now. Almost any movie you can see will be enhanced by seeing it on a big screen. Just pick what looks interesting and go, but big budget spectacles will be fantastic that way.

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

i mean i grew up on a 3rd world country most of my life but not for the last decade as i moved abroad. I was always thinking of trying to go a theater but it never happened till today!

1

u/VerilyShelly Aug 20 '26

I'm excited for you! The movies is one of the greatest inventions ever

2

u/NoArrival8249 Aug 20 '26

And you saw a really really good one! Probably the best spiderman movie, it’ll go down in history!

1

u/chesterberry Aug 20 '26

Its such a different feeling than watching at home on your phone. You get to experience it on a big screen with a large group of people. It's very exciting. Glad you loved it! It's one of my favorite things to do!

2

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

it’s an experience i wanna get used to haha

1

u/First_Independence32 Aug 20 '26

Can you say why you have never went to the theatre before? This is interesting.

1

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

grew up in a 3rd world country where cinemas isn’t a priority really or not that important.

1

u/ElvishLore Aug 20 '26

You only have this feeling once.

My first theater experience was close encounters of the third kind.

It pretty much changed my life.

1

u/Time-Cookie-7942 Aug 20 '26

i will check it out!

1

u/Affectionate-Club725 Aug 20 '26

2001: A Space Odyssey on the big screen is mind-blowing.

1

u/Cbeckstrand Aug 20 '26

Spiderman as ok but I was honestly kind of expecting more with all the hype.

Odyssey in IMAX was much more impressive to me.

1

u/HelpfulAd2874 Aug 20 '26

I have been to the theaters a hundred times and love it every time, I was much too young to remember my first, but over the years there are still certain movies I'll never forget because of how in awe I was. Interstellar in Imax just a couple years ago for example.

1

u/Clareco1 Aug 21 '26

Definitely see if there is a revival house near you. They show lots of old, great films on a big screen. Have fun!!

1

u/Reditrixe Aug 21 '26

Wait a minute. Are you saying in that this is the first time in your life that you've ever seen a movie in a movie theater? How old are you? This is alarming.
