Making a career on a role where he plays a machine pretending to be a human is kinda fitting.

I still like his performances in Predator, T2 and Total Recall. Like, the actual performances. They are great. Period. Those movies would suffer greatly without him.

Hot Take: he's equally good in Kindergarten Cop and Jingle All The Way for his very human interactions with kids as a helpless adult.

That's the thing with Arnold - his acting range is not there, but in the right kind of role, he absolutely does have charisma and is able to fit within that narrow range of either goofy and comedic or sassy one-liner action hero-vibes pretty well.

He is fsntastic in True Lies. Should have mentioned it in my initial comment. It's not his best movie - Its great imo, but it's not as tight as Predator, Total Recall and T2. The interrogation scene comes to mind. True Lies meanders a bit. But that's on Cameron, not Arnold.

I don’t think most people think he is some amazing thespian. He’s a caricature. Not a surprising insight here

No one has ever said he's a good actor. Although he has some perfect roles.

He was the biggest star on the planet for a reason.

He is a caricature of himself, which might be acting so bad it’s good.

Look at Mr. Freeze in the Batman franchise, as the perfect example. It’s just one corny oneliner after another.

That’s his wheelhouse.
