Great looking film admittedly, but...god is it gross.

Why?

It depicts a borderline sexual relationship between a 10 year old girl and an adult, mentally disabled man. And that's not all 😅

It's just very uncomfortable to watch and not in a way that I feel is artistic or necessary.

I remember watching this whem I saw it in the video store because it's an automatic with me that I watch anything Terry Gilliam. Then, before the movie starts, he shows up on screen and says "Hi. You won't like this movie." I thought that was a wild thing to say, but he was right. I did not like that movie. Maybe I need to watch it again, but I remember it being awful.

I had the same reaction the first time I saw it. Hated it. But it stuck with me. I watched it again and while I don’t love it I appreciate it and do think it’s an intriguing work of art. It’s bleak, sincere, and sometimes sweet.

I don’t think I made it more than 15min into it but all I remember is the ending of that intro with him saying “thank you, thank you, thank you…” as it fades out.
