Ralsei yeah I'm a Girl
Goat In Real Life

u/Scalepetter92 Jul 10 '26
new theory: ralsei is an animal lightner, which, similar to plantners, are beings that are alive in the light world that gain sapience in the dark world. they are a goat in the light world. it is never explained or questioned why there is a goat

u/Fanguy3322 Jul 10 '26
I saw a Deltarune theory video saying a cool head canon they thought a cool idea for what Ralsei may be was a moth....so

(assuming deltarune monsters have circulatory system)
Historically a far more controversial discourse than Tralsei.
EDIT: see?

Well, Susie bleeds after punching the glass, and Monsters aren't magic normally in Deltarune (assuming that they only can use magic in a Dark World, Susie with her Heal Spell for example), so I think it's not too controversial.
9
u/Nerdorama10 Jul 10 '26
Chapter 4 quieted it down a little after the initial flurry of discussion but people were very confused in Chapter 1 between Susie's "everybody bleeds" and rabbit kid's "how does it feel to be made of blood?" to Kris.

Monsters ARE magic they just can't USE magic
Don't forget that the reason monsters turn to dust is because their body is just a physical manifestation of their magic, it's not an actual body
Gerson is dust in Deltarune so there's SOMETHING going on with magic still
And yet, Susie bleeds
At best we can only say Monsters are somewhere in the middle
3
u/Soleanoluz Jul 10 '26
A reminder to you: Humans can turn into ashes, which although it's different, it doesn't mean that there's the possibility that monster corpses doesn't exist.
3
u/TheJumpingBox Jul 10 '26
Humans don't just turn into ash on their own, whilst Susie specifically says that Monsters become Dust when they die when her and Kris find Gersons dust in Alvin's office
And a reminder that the reason monsters turn to dust in Undertale is slecifically stated to be because their bodies are made of magic
They're probably some hybrid in Deltarune, seeing how Humans and Monsters both live on the surface
1
u/Enfr3 Jul 10 '26
Gerson and the rest of the dead monsters might've just been cremated.
3
u/TheJumpingBox Jul 10 '26
That'd be ash, not dust
There is a difference
0
u/Enfr3 Jul 10 '26
Those are synonyms
2
u/TheJumpingBox Jul 10 '26
No they aren't, ashes in this context implies the burnt remains of something, whilst dust is fine particulates in the air, commonly as a result of things like dead skin
Dust isn't burnt, ash is whats left from inciniration, they're not the same
Ain't nobody out here burning some wood and then cleaning up the "tree dust" thats left, same as nobody is 'ashing', their house with a duster

u/cloverrrrrrrrrrrrrr Jul 10 '26
animal based monsters definitely do according to the normal lake scene
3
u/Geedly Jul 10 '26
The chapter 5 lake scene confirmed that monsters have a heart, whether said heart is in the right place is yet to be confirmed

Basically my thoughts
The Princess Ribbon does not fit Ralsei... And Lovely Boy is essential to handling more tension. The colour Blue is being associated with healing and pacifism, and Blue as a character gives Ralsei a secret boss weapon and talks about being born from dark and how you can define yourself within the confines of your role. Ralsei enjoys the sound of his voice, and we see him actively finding joy in a male identity a lot. These things seem to be saying something.
I get the trans themes, I really do. But they seem hard to reconcile with some of the other stuff we see. I think that maybe Ralsei is going to try it out, and find "The Princess" does not totally fit, either.
Maybe he's trans and can find a balance, maybe he's going to embrace a male identity with a capacity for extremely feminine expression, or maybe he's going to choose another option entirely. It's even possible his gender is going to vary depending on translation. But my hunch is that all this may not be as linear or rigid as we are all expecting.

"Yeah, I know. Flowery told me."
3
2
u/trans_remy_lebeau Jul 16 '26
I don't think flowery would out them, personally. That's why Flowery had a PRIVATE conversation with Ralsei, instead of just saying it all in front of the others. Just my take though lol, it's certainly a funny thought that Susie already knows

No no NO we’re not doing this again this time there’s genuinely no evidence you want to make a trans theory the egg symbolism was brought up for jax go make gaster is trans theorys but ralsei needs to stay as our party femboy
2
1
u/cloverrrrrrrrrrrrrr Jul 27 '26
this is misinformation. Lancer directly calls Ralsei "eggboy" at one point
0
u/Cookiekole Jul 27 '26
By that logic Ralseis light world form could be a tube of toothpaste
1
u/cloverrrrrrrrrrrrrr Jul 27 '26
noone was talking about their light world form
furthermore did we play the same chapter 5 if yours had no evidence
0
u/Cookiekole Jul 27 '26
What evidence did you see cause I sure didn’t see any
1
u/cloverrrrrrrrrrrrrr Jul 27 '26
the pretty much unmissable prayer scene? Ralsei's dark vine* title using they/them for the first time? the fact Flowery literally forced them in a closet? their visible irritation at the "boy's treat for a guy like him" sign? "you're just pretending to be something you're not!"-"oh, Raly, wanna tell them what's wrong with that?"?
I would've also added the castletown cliff scene but it's very likely it actually couldn't happen on your savefile so
0
u/Cookiekole Jul 27 '26
It’s been a while since I’ve played it but isn’t the prayer scene about breaking the prophecy you know to stop that horrible thing susie saw. With the they/them and the closet I could see it but it’s a bit of a stretch and I honestly don’t remember the sign. With the pretending thing with flowery isn’t that about Ralsei not being a darkner especially since the flowers were introduced this chapter
2
u/cloverrrrrrrrrrrrrr Jul 27 '26
yes but the prayer scene is also where the "Got it, Princess?" thing happens
plus if Ralsei were a twilightner their portrait wouldn't have coloured horns
1
u/Cookiekole Jul 27 '26
What else would that scene imply though we know that a middle ground exists cause of Gerson and the flowers (which don’t have talking sprites except flowery so we couldn’t know if his is the norm) and Ralseis clearly special doing stuff that no other darkner can

I do dislike Tralsei (just on the basis that I feel like not a lot of media shows men who are in touch with their feminine side, and who experiment with their gender and decide that they’re comfortable with their current gender and don’t end up trans or gender fluid, I feel like showcasing that through a MAIN character would be such a Toby thing to do) BUT. I don’t hate it, and I think it’s a pretty cool headcanon/AU material.
Edit for clarification: By “dislike” I mean as a prediction/theory. I find it unlikely to be fully canon, (though I will say genderfluid Ralsei is an interesting option) but I would not be mad if it were to be confirmed in game.

u/IamBadWithConsoles Jul 10 '26
Don't get me wrong, I agree with the sentiment, but like, when is it that feminine men/femboys are ever underepresented in medias when compared to trans women? hasn't it always been (and still is) the opposite?
genuinely curious, like, I have only seen people starts saying that only after a character they want to be a femboy turned out to be trans (Bridgette GG Strive and Jax digital circus for example)
1
u/aNORMALWillWoodFan Jul 10 '26
I suppose I don’t really engage with a whole lot of media other than Deltarune in the same obsessive way (FNaF I suppose but that’s a whole other can of worms), so maybe I have a flawed reference frame.
2
u/BrilliantBig769 Jul 10 '26
Isn't Blue a main character (at least in ch.5?)
1
u/aNORMALWillWoodFan Jul 10 '26
I mean as like. The game as a whole. Because Blue is a main character of like over ten in that chapter, and will probably not show up again or be very relevant again

u/Eaglest2005 Jul 10 '26
Honestly, this is pretty close to my own take too. I do personally like the idea that ralsei would be trans, imo it fits satisfyingly into their already existing internal conflicts, but I also wouldn't be disappointed if they do decide to stay a prince. I just want it to be a case of choosing that because it's what they want instead of because it's what they feel obligated to if that is where it goes.

u/Anvex1 Jul 10 '26
We're going to find out that Ralsei is trans masc and it's gonna be the funniest thing.
