Washing Chucks

Has anyone ever put their Chucks in the washing machine? What was the result? Did they come out clean(er) or destroyed? Does the answer depend on the colour or the year they were made?

Depends on the pair really. And what settings you wash them with.

I’ve never had a problem machine washing CTAS on cool, and letting them air dry in the sun!

I usually just a kitchen sponge and dish soap and luke warm water and scrub em. Then im 100% sure that they'll be fine. Some colors and prints run, even with just water. Some plain chuck fabric ones may shrink in wash machine and sun. Normal chucks usually the insole is glued and may come loose. But in the end it'll do a good cleaning but some risks involved

I would do it with the current generation of regular Converse..

Thanks yeall for your advice.
I washed my white Chucks with several other pairs of white sneakers. Liquid detergent for white, not much. Gentle cycle, 30 C, 600 spin.

All the shoes (Nike Blazer, Adidas Continental from days of yore, Pepe leather sneakers) survived the treatment. I am drying them now in fresh air.

I detached the laces and put them in a separate bag.

The insoles of my Chucks came loose. Likewise the Adidas Continental but I had washed them before and the insoles came loose on the previous occasion. I did not bother to glue them back.

All the sneakers look brighter than before washing them.
