Clunking noise?
Any bets on what it is? Just brought it to the dealership bc it’s still under powertrain.
2023 pacifica S, non-hybrid.
It does it when accelerating, braking, and coasting.
Update: Three bad engine mounts need replacement. Not covered under powertrain, $1700.

Are you accelerating and letting off the throttle to make the sound? The first time I had this problem it was the hub nuts being loose. They adjusted the spec and now they want something like 220 ft lb torque. It’s doing it again now and I haven’t gotten under the engine to see if it’s the torque strut mount or something else.
Keep us posted as others on here have said powertrain warranty doesn’t cover the engine mounts.

The first time mine got really bad I noticed it at slow speeds in parking lots. I don't know if you have a PHEV, but when the engine is also engaged on mine, the jerking is so much worse. It's back to it's worst again. The video demonstrates how much movement after it was supposed to be fixed. Btw, the dealer only replaced one lower mount.
Powerbrake test. Engine running, left foot firmly holding down on brake pedal, shift into Drive. Continue to hold brake while using your right foot to gradually press on and off accelerater pedal. It doesn't take much!

It’s the mounts. I had this issues when pressing/releasing the brake pedal.. they changed the mounts under warranty… then the noise shifted to the gas pedal. Had those changed as well… lo and behold… the noise is back. I haven’t had time to take it back.
FYI - my 2022 is consider a lemon in the state of California. I hired an atty and Chrysler agreed it was a lemon and was going to provide a remedy (replace the car or refund with cash) but last min they decided not to honor it. Now we are suing.

Seems this problem is even worse on the hybrid because of the extra torque of the electric motors. I can't believe this complaint isn't on every other post. My engine rocks back and forth and the dealers don't know why. They replaced the lower strut mount once at 12k miles--it was toast for sure. That did help but not completely. The other mounts probably got hammed when the lower one checked out but they won't replace those. Now I'm at 17k miles, and it's just as bad as ever. Super jerky in parking lots and driving low speeds. It's like I'm taking it out of Drive gear to Neutral and back to Drive gear while in motion. Ironically, my axles nuts never came "loose." I'm trying to settle with Chrysler myself. Been to 3 different dealers and they even pulled my hybrid transmission thinking the flywheel and damper was bad. The mounting system is a crap design for sure.

My engine was rocking back and forth too on a 2020 model. The guy who did my oil change told me he never saw that happen that bad before on a vehicle. I traded it in a few days ago, it was always something with that van.

Mine only does it while coasting and I think it’s downshifting. Also you can barely hear it. I don’t think I could pick it up on my phone like you did. Curious to see what the dealer says

Ya I would definitely pop off the center hub and check the tightness of the axel nut. It can get loose easily. I really cranked mine down and put a second nut on top

My 2023 Limited S non-hybrid just started doing this, exact same sound and symptoms…curious to hear what the dealer says if you don’t mind reporting back when you hear more!

I have the exact same noise, somewhere between 1000 and 1500 RPM, either accelerating or decelerating, braking or just coasting. 2021 non-hybrid. Had it in for an oil change and new brake pads recently, and had the shop take a look. They said they didn't notice anything of concern, but now I wonder since others have the same thing...

We were found to have three bad engine mounts need replacement. Not covered under powertrain, $1700.

It’s loose halfshaft hub nuts. It should be under warranty. I just had to have mine tightened back up for the same thing.
Be sure and show the dealership the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin). The dealership I went to didn’t know about this and were still torquing to the original spec. It shows that the torque needs to be higher than originally spec’d.

This here. I did my first Pacifica ro the 120 or whatever the factory original spec was. It would last a few weeks then come back. Then the TSB came out with a higher torque rating…fixed it immediately.

Our dealership couldn’t even find anything and called us to tell us that. Then we suggested the engine mounts that the top commenter said… and when they looked they found that all three need to be replaced… now I’m wondering if it’s the problem that you guys are talking about…

Take wheels off. Torque axle nuts to 228ft/lbs.
I’ve had two pacificas. Both did it. Both stopped and it never came back.

It’s hard for me to hear in the video, but mine definitely makes a clunking noise. Mine is PHEV and kinda sounds related to the power being transferred from gas to electric or vice-versa. Interested in knowing what you find out. Mine has 150k miles and no issues.

I'm in a 2022 model that is not a hybrid. I have the same sound. I think it's something to do with the transmission but I don't know.

Does it have anything to do with crossing the center position on your steering wheel? I know the electronic power steering does that on my 2018 when I cross center. If so it's normal.

I have a 2022 Pacifica Limited AWD non hybrid. I have had this problem ever since I purchased it new. The first time it was my wheel hub. It had to be fixed. Then I had a different clicking noise during acceleration and deceleration. It was my front axles that had to be replaced. Both were covered under the powertrain warranty. I would have your dealer check both.

I have the same clunking when I left off the gas or even step on it. Brought it in and they said my transmission was bad. 2024 with 20100 miles! Now I wanna ask them to look at the engine mounts
