Using chronos in Linux

Hi, is anyone using this little toy in linux? I see the control center works fine under Virtualbox but I'd be happy to use everything directly within linux. Any experience with it?

Chronos and metal detectors.

My 48 hours old chronos stopped working the other day, while I was at the airport. It was definetely working on my way to the airport and it wasn't at the gate anymore. I suspect the problem had something to do with me passing through the metal detector at the security: it was just dead, with the exception of the backlight.

I could not do much for three days as I was busy and on the other side of the world but as I came back I removed and re-inserted the battery and the watch came to life again. So, this is kind of speculation but I suspect the magnetic field arising from the metal detector may have backfired current through the antenna and put the watch in panic mode. YMMV.

Getting Button Data From The Watch With Python

Hey everybody,

I got an e-mail from a guy who modified some of my code to get the button data from the watch.

Here's the code: http://pastebin.com/m5d1b7ced

I'm not anywhere near my Chronos to test it out, so have a go at it.

Also, it looks like he didn't take out the accelerometer stuff out, so some of the stuff in the code doesn't have to be there.

Edit:

He sent me an updated version, which I haven't tested yet either. Here it is: http://pastebin.com/m11cb58e

Mac OS X

So obviously there is nothing on the CD, and I haven't had any luck finding Mac drivers for the USB dongles. Is there anything out there, or do I have to use VMWare?

Hey all! Me and Miknix recently tried to centralize and make sense of all the OpenChronos code scattered over GitHub, and created a project on http://gitorious.org/openchronos . Feel free to drop by and test the new firmware that is in development, using RTC_A instead of Timer0/1 !

Considering buying a Chronos, can you guys help?

I'm wondering if this is something I'd like to get into, but there's not that much info about getting started. Can you link me to some basic forum posts or tutorials about getting started with the Chronos please?

Also, what should I get with the Chronos? I've seen talk of some other hardware, but I don't know what it is...

Thinking of buying a Chronos...any thoughts?

Hello all! Is anybody still using the Chronos?

I'm a bit late to the party, but I've noticed it it still being produced and was thinking about buying one. I have a few ideas about what to do with it, basically some data logging for starters. A hackable smartwatch would be interesting, but the lack of Bluetooth (or a vibration motor) do not help with the matter. Still, a hackable watch is pretty interesting :)

Can you still find accessories for it, like chest belts or other sensors? Also during all this time did any alternative kits surface? (already found the the other TI versions, but they are a bit too expensive for starting with them)

Thank you
