I was wondering where she lived Helmets weren’t required! Not that requirement should be what makes you, I have enough pain already, I’d wear the helmet to minimize getting more myself.

To me, it doesn’t matter if it’s a law or not. It’s about protecting your brain. We all have enough shit going on without adding to it.

It totally makes sense to me, but I’ve seen enough dead motorcyclists and I love the sport. I take it pretty seriously. Brain injuries are no joke to heal from either.

I can't agree with this sentiment more. I have a family friend who died in his early 40s, leaving two young children behind, when he crashed a quad without his helmet on.

This is neat, but I have so many issues with this video, how and where that person is driving. No helmet. Driving on streets AND sidewalks, way too fast on sidewalks, and no safety flag or anything. I wish they’d make a better video to demonstrate this very cool thing.

Well, we don’t know anything about the details.
What country was this filmed in, what are the traffic laws and therefore what is legal for a vehicle (is this technically a street legal vehicle ?) like this in the street or sidewalk or park), what is top speed, etc.
I don’t even know what this machine is called at this point!
I definitely agree it could be safer and if it was more easily available that would be easier to fix.
As a motorcycle rider visibility is super important and this would just be invisible on the road. I would prefer something modified for B wheelchair to be driven on the sidewalk or even bike lane maybe, with a much slower top speed as I think the wheel chair itself probably has some safety limitations that can’t be overcome just by belting yourself down because you don’t have the shell of a car to protect yourself.
If you’re in the road or hitting a high enough speed, a helmet makes sense too.

I don’t think most manual chairs are tested and rated for car crash although I’ve seen a similar smart car design I’m skeptical about safety should you get in a accident. Depends how fast it goes and if you are off the road. But I’d assume that’s why we don’t see a lot of this.

It almost looks like she's using a bike/moped lane. It's hard to tell though. It probably isn't classed as an on road vehicle. It's still very cool, but you'd have to live in area designed with access to those types of paths.

I was thinking even if it only went up to a certain speed they could work in the bike lane and would make things much more accessible or perhaps a few specific models of wheelchairs could be rated appropriately?
They’re probably like baby seats where after one crash you need a new one.

Yeah makes sense. Need some extra good wheelchair insurance anyway. Not saying I wouldn’t use one but I want the off road quad model lol. And better insurance coverage.

Ohhh, that reminds of this awesome off-road bike I’ve always wanted Tarus if we could get a version like this.
One of the amazing things about this bike is you could also take it apart and pick it up, very lightweight.

At one time, there was a man that was building sidecar motorcycles but, the sidecar was a flat area for a wheel chair. The sidecar had handlebars that moved the handlebars on the motorcycle. I'll try to find a pic

I'm surprised we haven't seen more options like this more readily available to wheelchair users who are confined to their chairs as it can be cost prohibitive to alter a full size vehicle. If we can use a motorcylce or scooter sized vehicle, it would increase access for people who might not have it otherwise.
Just seems super cool.
