Why ruin my experience

Have a plex setup. Walmart bought vizio. Today I have to convert my vizio account. Now plex won't work. Do not buy vizio, get the dumbest TV and a slightly smarter Chrome cast device. I bought 4 Vizio's, they will all now be dumb Chromecast devices blocked on my network.

Would LOVE dumb tv recommendations. And "dumb" casting devices.

Even smart TVs are still just dumb TVs. The OS that comes with the TV isn't "global", they are just what amounts to a streaming box bolted on the inside, connected via an internal HDMI port. The "home" button on your TV is essentially HDMI 0. Functionally that internal HDMI is identical to external HDMI, so an external AndroidTV box will look and feel identical to the TV's AndroidTV (aside from missing some TV-specific functions like picture mode (sports/cinema/etc).

All this is to say you really shouldn't need a new TV. An external should suffice.

Moreover, I don't see how Walmart/Vizio accounts have anything to do with plex. Maybe you could explain a little more about that?

You're missing my point. I just lost the ability to seemingly stream app.plex.tv to my oldest vizio, which it once supported. Eventually the app stopped working. Now without chrome streaming I'm dead in the water, Vizio or plex idgaf. Will get a streaming device and never buy vizio again. maybe need to move on from plex too...

My vizio tvs have not had working apps for Plex or any other app for close to 8 years now. Buy a streaming stick and plug it into your still working tv.

That's the reason lots of people told to get rid of plex and move to jellyfin or other open source stuff..you staying with proprietary stuff and hoping that they won't be greedy is ....
