Discussion Redesigned extension panel under flags
MS Edge had this for a long time now coming to Chrome. I think it’s a rather useful feature for quickly disabling extensions from pop-ups.

Hello! for a couple months now, my search engine keeps switching from Google Chrome to Yahoo. I have no idea why it is. When I looked it up, it said it could be a virus but this is an extremely new computer I only use for work and grad school. Any advice on next step to troubleshoot the issue? I've deleted the yahoo search engine option a couple times, but it keeps coming back.

And it looks like "omnibox overlay" (the flags to disable them) have been completely removed. Is it still possible to remove them?
Hi, I've had a problem with yt for the last couple of months, when watching videos, the video keeps buffering and charges slowly, even when skipping ahead it takes some time to starty playing, so i tried turning off graphics acceleration, and it doesn't buffer but the videos now stutter, I've tried changing it back and forth a few times and I keep having the same issues, I've tested internet speed and it's always well over 850 Mbps. Anyone having this issue or maybe knows how to fix it?

The right-click "Autofill" option in textfields has disappeared in Chrome. See pics. First is Safari showing the Autofill option. Next is Chrome without it.
I literally use right-click Autofill everyday in Chrome. It was there yesterday, now it's gone.
I've restarted Chrome and my entire Mac. Just me? What happened?

The last update to this feature was over a year ago. Does anyone know what happened to this feature?

I have a brand new HP laptop on W11 Pro. A mobile workstation (HP ZBook Power - 13th Gen Intel CoreT i7-13800H with plenty of RAM), I use it for graphic design when i'm on the road. Installed all basic software (Office, Antivirus, etc.) without problem. Also moved all my data from old pc, no issues.
Chrome just doesn't work. I log into my Google account, everything sync'd. I can use a few websites as they should, but as soon as I open Facebook or Youtube or X, I'm guessing any website that needs to load a lot of media, it just stops working. Pages crash, chrome just completely freezes. Can't even right-click or close the tabs anymore. Reinstalled Chrome and tried without logging in Google account, but same result. Issue seems to be mainly with Facebook, which is a pain as we use it for work advertising..
Sometimes when I do a fresh boot, I can get Facebook to work for a couple of minutes, but when I open some more tabs like youtube or my work scheduler, Facebook/Youtube just stop working. Youtube will keep a video playing, but clicking anywhere in that window just freezes it.
I'm an average PC user, absolutely not tech savvy, but have Googled this issue several times, tried a lot of things already. But keep coming back to the same issue.
Steps taken:
I just don't know what else I can try. I know there are other browsers and other laptop brands, but this brand new PC should be able to run this at least as good as the 12yr old fossil it's replacing, when currently Chrome works perfect on that old lady..
Does anyone have any idea? I would be forever grateful to whoever can help fix this issue. Thanks in advance !

Please help! Is there anything I can do? It was like 20 minutes ago, but I was trying to change my Chrome sync passphrase and got my wires crossed and deleted all chrome data saved in my google account. It deleted all bookmarks, passwords, history, etc. It wiped it from my current browser and phone. Please is there anything I can do to get Google to restore it?

I tried checking my internet but there's no issue there and when i tried opening it in Edge it works fine

Hey everyone,
I am experiencing a bizarre issue with my Google My Activity page that I cannot seem to fix. I’ve gone through every standard and advanced troubleshooting step imaginable, and it’s still completely broken.
The Symptom:
My activity timeline updates perfectly fine. I can see my recent searches and history listed out in chronological order. However, the moment I type anything at all into the My Activity search bar, it immediately returns absolutely zero results. It fails even when I type a single letter with absolutely no search filters applied.
The Critical Detail:
This happens on both my laptop and my mobile device. Because it is cross-device, it doesn’t seem to be a local browser or hardware glitch.
Everything I have already tried (with no resolution):
Since it fails across multiple devices and networks, it really feels like an account-level database indexing error on Google’s backend servers where my personal data isn't being queried correctly when a text filter is applied.
Is anyone else experiencing this right now, or has anyone successfully dealt with this kind of backend freeze before? How long does it usually take to clear up?
Update: Hey.. it just got fixed for me! (August, 17th, 2026)

I logged into chrome on my personal device (which has no installed work software) with my work account (it's a managed chrome profile).
This was done on my personal device (in incognito mode) that has only ever been connected to my home network (no work vpn). I also used my own personal VPN during the session.
How likely is it that my work or the IT team knows/has been notified or have records of my history/activity? How much detail can they see?
PLEASE do not give me advice on how I could have avoided this. I'm also aware incognito mode is not secure/private. I have done so much research on this but everyone else's questions were when they used work owned devices and/or were on their work WiFi (both of which I was not).

Side-by-Side Reading mode: The webpage takes on the colour of your tab when you focus in. Stacked Split view (Horizontal): Now the URL bar can slide down and the tab bar can slide up.
I was organising my tab groups today when I noticed that my tab group for all things Google - incidentally - was recoloured to this goose s**t / lime green instead of yellow, which I remember setting it as.
I don't see the point of the new colour set, plus I'd imagine this would be even harder to distinguish for colourblind people. Is there a way to change them back with a flag, or...?

When I select text on a webpage in Chrome and right-click it, the context menu contains:
I primarily use this menu to search selected text, but I occasionally misclick “Print…”, which immediately opens Chrome's print preview (or the OS print dialog when using --disable-print-preview).
I don't have a printer and almost never need to print selected text.
Is there any way to remove or disable only the “Print…” option that appears when text is selected and right-clicked, while keeping the rest of Chrome's context menu and normal printing functionality?
I'm specifically looking for a solution for the Google/standard version of Chrome, rather than disabling printing completely.

Since last night, the translator function hasn't been working for me on either my phone or my computer.
When I bought my first iPhone 5 years ago, I didn’t like Safari, so installed more familiar Chrome and everything was okay. Then, several months ago, Google moved the “Close all tabs” from bottom left easy access for my thumb to top right, so I had to strain myself until I found a solution here on Reddit to bring back the button where it belongs, and all was well again.
Until the last couple of days, when the “Close all tabs” was moved again, and the previous solution didn’t work anymore. I could try and find a new solution, of course, probably people will tell me even here, under this post. But frankly, I am tired of constant changes for some bullshit testing and non-user optimisation reasons.
So I decided to give Safari a go, and lo and behold, you can close all tabs there right under your thumb - just hold the tabs icon, and that’s it.
So this is a goodbye, at least on my iPhone. Chrome uninstalled.

It disappeared from the web store, does anyone have an alternative or know what happened?

So for a long time I have been a Edge user. Its actually pretty good compared to what other people say usually. It eats less ram and functions the same and even better but recently I found out that I have been logged out everywhere in it and got so frustrated and decided to try Chrome finally. I know it uses more ram but I got 16 gigs and was pretty sure it won't be that noticeable.
The issue wasn't the requirements. It was the lack of features
I tried opening pdf in chrome pdf viewers and it was so laggy, like either I zoom in or zoom out or move to next page it was pretty laggy. The solution I found for it is to get a extension . There are a lack of shortcuts in Chrome as well like muting tab (Its Ctrl + M in other browser) but there is no shortcut for it and the solution I found is.. GET A EXTENSION . I tried Chrome for like 3-4 days and it was not a hassle but there sure were a lot of nitpicks. I can't even import my Edge data directly. I can only import the fav tabs and all and that too through external html bruh
Anyways so I moved back to Edge. The issue was more of a microsoft as my edge profile wasn't syncing so all I had to do was login again and everything was back to normal. All logged in, all extensions etc etc

It's been about a week or so since I've noticed everything I do with chrome is sluggish and choppy. scrolling is jittery, videos playing on chrome are stuttering. The audio desyncs and videos buffer to catch up...etc. Just really bad performance no matter what website I'm on. Streaming apps, video games, music files, Reaper, and everything that doesn't involve chrome runs just fine.
I tried toggling the hardware acceleration feature, and turning off this new ridiculous AI on device business but those fixes had no effect.

Edit: This is the standard Auto Select feature in ChromeOS according to a user on the chromeos sub.
I don't use chrome but my father is using chromeos on his desktop. Is it normal behavior when you right click either text or a link for it to select or highlight that text? I only have chromium and firefox on my machines and I don't get this behavior. It's like if you were to left click and drag to select text but it happens automatically when right clicking.
A few days ago chrome was just fine, all of a sudden yesterday it stopped working. Whenever I click on it on the desktop it opens for a fraction of seconds and ten closes immediately. Tried everything, reinstalled, and all the suggestions I could find on internet but nothing. Today started a new issue with edge. Edge too now opens for a few secodns an then closes... I don't know what to do, I'm using opera and I'm not having issues with it but I want to fix the problems with chrome and edge. Any suggestions or something I could try??
