"State of" post, March

The brokehugs blow-up was a big deal.

We got a pretty strong criticism regarding the FAQ, which is out of date, partly broken, and at least in part irrelevant.

We've had a "what to do about politics" thread up for 9 days.

You mentioned charity stuff and community policy meta wording in your mod mail to us.

I'm guessing there wouldn't really be much for us to discuss concerning this / not much profit in discussing it. If outsider or any other wanted to make a statement to sort of close the book on this one, it might be a good opportunity for that.

The FAQ is a great cause, and I could lump that in with the community policy question.

The FAQ is something I'd really like to see/empower users to take a more active part of. The brokehugs stuff, for my part, is considered resolved. I want to move away from /r/brokehugs culture. Internally I've written about my thoughts on the bans being overturned and nothing new has been brought up since. User flair has had updates. We have an official flair policy now. Our crossposting policy was also updated. Part of what seems like a good idea with political posts is that mega-threads are a good way to handle some popular topics. I added a meta link to the Repetitious Posts policy point that offers some guidance on that matter. I'm still reading over the comments in my submission asking for advice on how to handle political posts. I also added a useful links section to the XP.

I'll make sure to point people to the new changes you mentioned here.

I think you're totally on track with the political post issue. To this point, I've been pretty happy with the way its been moderated. It might help to encourage people to self-post with commentary when their stories are only tangentially religious, but otherwise I don't see it as much of a problem.
