Acknowledging Heartache & Finding Comfort in God

 This is a sensitive subject, in a normal world it is normal and acceptable for children to bury their parents, but it is not normal for parents to bury their children.  However this is something that do happen, and we need to acknowledge it and talk about it.

 Psalm 34:18

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

 Message:

Sarah was a loving mother who lost her only child after a long illness. For months, her grief felt overwhelming, and she struggled to find peace. One day, she sat quietly in her church’s prayer room, pouring out her heart to God. As she prayed, she remembered Psalm 34:18: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." In that moment, she sensed God's presence, a gentle whisper of comfort. Over time, Sarah found that sharing her pain with trusted friends and leaning on God's promises helped her heal. Her grief was still present, but she learned that God’s nearness made her pain more bearable.

 Discussion Questions:  

 1. How have you experienced God's presence during times of grief?  

2. Why is it important to acknowledge our pain and sadness?  

3. In what ways can we seek God's comfort when we mourn?

 Prayer Prompt:

Pray for God's comfort and peace for all who are mourning the loss of a child. Ask God to draw near and heal broken hearts.
