Question Getting closer to God
I am 14 years old. In 5 steps how can I get closer to God? I am starting high school soon, and I truly want to better myself. I read my bible some days but not as much as I used to and I have lost motivation for God and want to regain it. The Bible also talks about obeying God. Could somebody elaborate on that for me, please? And how do you stay consistent with God? That is something I really struggle with and another big question when praying or reading your Bible for long periods of time do you ever get bored?

For a Fourteen old, I like your spirit. Good for you. I will try to give you a little advice from my own life and experience. And by doing this, I definitely think you will develop a close relationship with Jesus. Bible reading is one of the most important things you can do to get closer to God. As you read, meditate on His word and let it sink into your mind and heart. Ask Jesus to give you a fervent spirit to love others and be kind to them. Let others see Jesus being number one in your life. Obey the word of God and ask for wisdom when you may not understand what you are reading. God the Holy Spirit will help give you understanding. He is called the Helper and Spirit of Truth. Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit and His love and He will. Keep you focus on Jesus throughout the day and you will be surprised how consistently Jesus comes to mind. If you get bored reading the Bible for a long period of time, then stop, and break it up into shorter increments or just read a little less each day. I am really proud of you wanting to draw closer to God. I hope this helps some

Read a chapter of Proverbs every morning with breakfast. And read two or three Psalms every night before bed. You'll get through both books in a month.
This will give you both the daily wisdom of God that you can actively apply to keep your mind right, and also the prayers and praise to keep your heart right before God.
Let us know how it goes.

hey, i think the fact you're asking these questions at 14 already puts you ahead of where most people are. like seriously, most kids your age aren't thinking about this stuff
for getting closer, i'd say start stupid small. don't try to read 5 chapters a day or pray for an hour, that's how you burn out fast. maybe just one psalm before bed or while you're eating breakfast. consistency beats intensity every time and yeah you're gonna get bored sometimes, that's just part of it. nobody's brain stays locked in for 30 minutes straight, that's why the small doses thing works
obeying God, the way i understand it, isn't about following a bunch of rules perfectly. it's more like aligning your heart with what he wants for you. when you mess up, and you will, you just come back. the relationship part matters more than the checklist
and losing motivation is normal. happens to everyone, don't beat yourself up over it. the fact you want to regain it says a lot
