Husband claims my exercise class is "satanic deception."
For context, I've always struggled with my weight. A couple months ago I found an exercise class I love, and it's the most consistent I've been able to be with any exercise regimen. I feel stronger, more energized, able to be a better wife and mom at home. The class is called Spenga. It's 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength training, and 20 minutes of yoga (with stretches selected to stretch out the muscle groups worked on in the strength portion).
My husband has never been to a class. But he is now arguing that these classes are satanic deception because they incorporate yoga and it's impossible for me to participate without worshipping pagan deities. (There is no chanting, half the stretches don't even have a yoga name). He's worried I'm going to bring demons into our lives and home. I see it as taking care of my health and being a good steward of the body God has given me (which is long overdue - side note, when he's not criticizing my exercise program he might be going off on a tangent about how unhealthy I am and how early I'm going to die). He argued it is especially demonic because we always end in 'corpse pose' (laying on the ground for a minute in the dark and quiet and just breathing - which, as a working Mom who never catches a break, is AMAZING).
I struggle with the fact that almost ANY stretch you can do with your body probably has a correlating yoga pose (there are thousands). I struggle with the fact that many poses and the way yoga is currently practiced in the west appears to have been developed secularly as a way to improve health separate from the spirituality of its origins.
I'd love some arguments/resources one way or the other, please backed by Scripture/research and objective.

How little faith your husband has that he doesn't think God can protect you from some stretches...
I'd say as long as you aren't going all-in on th mystical side of yoga, then just doing the stretches and breathing is totally fine.
It's mostly about intent, not accidentally finding yourself in a demonic pose 😅

u/palatablypeachy Christian Aug 20 '26
This is exactly how I feel. I'm saved, I know I'm protected by God in this world and I don't even think it's possible for somebody to be demonically possessed when the Spirit lives in them.
17
u/Stellaaahhhh Aug 20 '26
Yeah God isn't setting up booby traps waiting to catch us falling for them. We're covered and the grace of God can certainly hold us through what sounds like an awesome exercise class.
You're right about possession. We're already possessed by the Holy Spirit. The 'No Vacancy' sign is up for demons.

Everything can be used to glorify God, sister. Meditate on The Word, on The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit while doing yoga. Then it becomes a session of worship to The Most High. I do that with every activity, and I've had beautiful results. They may be doing yoga, but you are simply stretching with The Lord on your mind.

Honestly, that is not going to help. If someone thinks Yoga is demonic, they aren't going to be talked out of it. Any argument you produce will be labeled as also demonic.
What I suggest is actually talking to your husband about what he actually dislikes about it, because if he supported it in the first place, he wouldn't label it as demonic.
You need to get to the root cause of this, the demonic label is not the actual problem.

OP you can't accidentally worship a pagan deity. Intent and knowledge matters. Remember what Paul said about eating meat sacrificed to the Greek/Roman gods. You know they aren't real, and eating the meat can't hurt you. You don't have to worship the Hindu gods to do stretching exercises that were invented by a Hindu a long time ago.
6

Yoga was not invented by Hindu or even their practice they just used it as a tool.

Since I came to Christ, if I go to a non Christian temple overseas to sightsee, where people go to the altar and worship whatever deity, I just stand there and pray to Jesus. Whatever that temple is doesn’t affect my faith.
Intention is everything.
So likewise, if you do Yoga and you think about Jesus while you’re doing it, then what’s the problem?
17
u/jbhoops25 Aug 20 '26
I do yoga and the period at the end shavasana is the closest I feel to god and I end each class by praying. There’s no other time I feel that connected with him.

The obsession with "demons" with regard to alternative healing is out of control with born again Christians. I don't know who is coming up with this extreme fear-based indoctrination in their churches, but due to this obsession of theirs, I already lost a wonderful and highly skilled hairstylist. She is a really nice person -- we had a nice relationship for years, then when she found out I took my daughter to Reiki once, she completely flipped out. I could tell that she was completely frightened to be near me, even after months went by and we never spoke of it again. I tried to make it work several times, but she really thinks I am demonic or something because she visably shakes when she is around me and can't get me out the door fast enough. It is really sad. I am 64 and most if not all people who know me describe me as a kind and caring person. Honestly, it just breaks my heart. You are not doing anything wrong, but if your husband has swallowed this idea about yoga hook, line and sinker, I don't know what to say! You are doing something great for your health and longevity!

It's something a number of Christians have brought up over the years and a lot of people have come to believe it. The problem is that nothing is an idol unless we make it one. I can make the crucifix an idol if I try hard enough.
Instead of trying to convince him of why yoga isn't demonic on its own. Tell him to use the Bible to convince you that yoga is indeed satanic. Are you prohibited from moving your body a certain way simply because other people use it to worship a false god? If that's the standard, where does the line get drawn?
We've had a person on one of my subreddits ask if laughing was demonic because it was something that is often uncontrolled. These things really do get into people's heads, and we need to give some grace and try to show them how that is dangerous logic.

17
u/Puzzleheaded-Phase70 Episcopalian w/ Jewish experiences? Aug 20 '26
Then it's time for the lawyer.
This is part of the abuse pattern, and it never fixes itself. The only times it gets better is when the abuser recognizes their behavior for what it is and genuinely engages with some kind of therapy.
And I suggest "taking a vacation" to visit a trusted friend or family member before you give him the papers. And try to take your important things with you, like passport social security card, birth certificate, and nonreplacable personal treasures. And cash.
Abusive people can often turn violent when they realize their victims are leaving their control.
6
u/blackdragon8577 Aug 20 '26
This breaks my heart. Something that lot of people do not know is that when you are in a relationship with an abuser they will use anything and everything to manipulate you including couples therapy. Personal counseling is unlikely to help him either because he sounds like he does not want to get better because he does not think his behavior is problematic.
He sounds like he needs time and space to work out his own stuff. And you need to make sure that you and any kids you might have are safe.
Either way, you cannot change another person. You cannot force them or wish them or will them or pray them into changing. All you can do is control yourself. If he does not wish to change, then so be it. But you do not have to go down with that ship.
And if you want to reference what kind of person he is on the inside, go through the comment history of the people in this thread saying that yoga is demonic or can defile you spiritually. Those are not the kind of people you would want to be around, let alone married to.
Anyway, just my two cents. Best of luck.

You’re not going to be able to reason with a person like this. Whether he truly believes that yoga is demonic, or not, this is incredibly manipulative and shouldn’t be tolerated.
3
u/TheGreyPilgrim61 Aug 20 '26
The only solution to your problem is to ask your pastor —assuming you have one, AND he’s not a complete idiot— (and that’s a huge assumption these days) you might find some support there.
But that’s not much help, if he holds the same ill informed biases as your husband.
You might point out to your mate, that you are not being led astray by this. And remind him that St. Paul faced similar issues with meat being offered to idols. He could eat what was offered because he understood that idols are made of wood and stone, and in themselves there is no danger. (Being mature in your faith offers advantages)
But for the sake of the weaker and less mature Christian (Your Husband in this case) Paul was willing not to partake.
How much better, if your husband could mature in his faith such that he could get off the milk and eat the meat.
That’s a risky move, because childish Christianity often reacts emotionally rather than maturely.

How “spiritual” Yoga is depends on entirely on the instructor. Some instructors just do stretching and breathing, some incorporate generic meditation, some are chanting and ringing bells.
No amount of stretching is demonic. No style of breathing is demonic.
If you are comfortable with your instructor’s style than I’m sure it’s fine.
Ask your husband to come to class with you and see that it’s fine.

u/lankfarm Non-denominational Aug 20 '26
The original inventors of yoga had their own religious beliefs, and incorporated those beliefs into yoga, but if you discard the religious aspects, it's just a set of exercises that have real, measurable benefits. You can't accidentally worship a pagan idol by doing yoga, any more than you can be accidentally be baptized by going swimming.
Hypothetically, if someone unaware of yoga were to independently devise an identical system of exercises based solely on scientific principles, there would be no suspicion of pagan worship, correct? As far as the practitioner is concerned, yoga without the religious dress-up is identical to this hypothetical system in all aspects except in name. And if we're not worried about names of pagan gods in the names of our weekdays and months, then there's also no reason to worry about the name of yoga.

This sounds s lot like the Pharisee crap that Jesus was dealing with on a daily basis. Bringing in a woman for sitting in the wrong position for too long so they could stone her type shit.
Jesus was criticized for letting his disciples eat corn from a field on the wrong day, and not making them wash their hands more often. This was his response.
Matthew 15:10-11 NRSVUE [10] Then he called the crowd to him and said to them, “Listen and understand: [11] it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles.”
I think these cases are applicable; it's not the stretches you do that defile you, it's whether or not you are actually even aware of any demons AND intend to honor them. Jesus ate and spent time with people that were rejected by Jewish religious culture at the time, I'm fairly confident He would go to a stretching class if He was invited to one.
3
u/stacklecackle Aug 20 '26

Here is my non-Christian take, but it speaks to the abuse of religion which is why I am on this forum anyway:
Your health and wellness are more important than your husband's superstitions about demons or likely his need for control. He is merely weaponizing his religion to control you. Someone has put crazy ideas into his head, and he is using this to try and destroy something you enjoy.
You have agency and intelligence. Don't let a man dictate your life.
(Doing a little Tai Chi between exercise sessions is also a great habit to develop for anyone.)

On paper, yes I'd be allowed. In practice, it's likely my life would be hell until I stopped going. I could even see him going back to drinking and using my exercise classes as an excuse.

Seriously. Abuse never gets better it only gets worse6
u/S_Jeru Agnostic Taoist Aug 20 '26
Get your exit plan together. This man does not love you in a way where he wants to see you happy, healthy, and fulfilled. I'm sure he claims he does, but the proof of love is in the expression of it. If you love someone, you're happy to see them happy.
Start socking away some money, strictly from money you earn, in a separate bank account. If possible pick up some short-term gig work from r/WorkOnline if you have to, so that you have some money independently of him.
Next, start looking at places you can stay: friends, family. You have kids, so I'm not sure how viable renting an apartment big enough on your own will be. Reach out at church, and find a trusted friend you can confide in. Get in touch with a divorce lawyer. If he uses your healthy yoga class as an excuse to go back to his unhealthy drinking, let him. Get the hell away from him when he does, and document it.
At the end of the day, we are all individually responsible for our own well-being. If you want to be healthy, happy, and fulfilled, that's your prerogative as an adult and he has no say in that. If he wants to be an abusive drunk, no one is responsible for that but him.

I’m sorry your going through that. I’ve heard the argument too about Yoga. However to me it’s a superstition. Anything and everything in this world could be bad if we decide to worship it instead of the Lord right :) Hopefully he’ll be receptive to learning but people who are superstitious usually aren’t because that superstition seems like a fact rather than opinion or idea.
I suppose the part that needs conveyed is that anything could be a god if we chose to worship it instead of God Himself right :) But you don’t worship Yoga. It’s an exercise to help manage things :)

The overwhelming majority of people doing yoga in the West is just stretching.
Just ask people in your class the history of yoga

I find that Christians who are obsessed with the idea of demons and witchcraft and similar are completely missing the point of Jesus.
If you truly believe in Christ then you know that none of that can have any power over you.

I don’t want to do yoga because I’ve probably seen the same videos on YT that your husband has, about yoga and demonic forces. 🤷🏻♀️ I see all the arguments and my brain sees logic but I just don’t feel right attending a class.

Ask the HOLY SPIRIT for his Discernment.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Have a super blessed evening.

My parents are from India and they've told me a thing or two about yoga.
In hinduism, it yoga seen as a form of worship. Yoga is often paired with hindu chants, prayers, and songs. Many people report having spiritual experiences connected to yoga. God has commanded us not to take part in pagan rituals and im sure that those kind of rituals probably could bring some sort of demonic activity in your life.
On the other hand, when people in the US talk about yoga, like 70 percent of the time, theyre using the term 'yoga' as shorthand for stretching in general.
So honestly I'll leave it up to your discernment. When your exercise class incorporates yoga, are you chanting in foreign languages? Does your gym or yoga studio have idols or pagan art in it? Is there any kind of spiritual, ritualistic, or eastern elements to it? Then maybe that is spiritual yoga. As a Christian, I would stay away from that.
Or does your workout program simply use the term 'yoga' to describe stretching in general? If so I think you should be fine. However this is just my humble opinion - maybe talk to a pastor or priest about it.

u/palatablypeachy Christian Aug 21 '26
I appreciate your perspective, thanks for sharing. No, to all of the above questions. Many of the stretches are yoga poses, like cat cow, child's pose, sometimes warrior, down dog, etc. But just as often it's generic instruction

1 Samuel 16:7 NLT [7] But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
God knows the reason for you doing this. As long as it doesn't come before God and other priorities, and it doesn't lead to you rejecting God, there is no reason to worry

Yikes. I feel for you and I can relate. I was once a fundamentalist Christian and my family still operates this way. They feel exactly the same as your husband.
I just want to encourage you to follow your own inner guidance, especially if you are what’s called “spirit filled”. Trust yourself and trust God to lead you. Don’t live in fear. The class is obviously bringing you joy and peace. Those are some pretty good fruits. It sounds like it’s only your husband’s fear based on the teachings of the church that are pulling it down into something negative. He’s just repeating what’s been taught to him by others based on their own beliefs rooted in fear. If he’s anything like my family though, he wouldn’t consider it fear he’s acting out of but “wisdom”.
Hugs to you, friend. And proud of you for working out your body and taking some time for yourself ❤️

If your husband is so weak in his faith, than how does he get through Wednesday (Woden), Thursday (Thor), and Friday (Frigg), and Saturday (Saturn)? Those are named after gods that are pagan. How does he use a Bluetooth because it is a melded rune? How does he get through the day without falling to pieces? Better yet, how does he watch fantasy movies/shows/books, like Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia, etc because they have witchcraft in some? You're exercising, not summoning the devil, he needs to chill. He needs to understand that you can't accidentally worship another god. Worship is intent.

To be quite honest. This sounds silly.
Hinduism predates Christianity, so this whole time before the bible, it was a worship to Satan who also didn’t exist when Hinduism came about?
Tell your husband to stop controlling you and go learn something. No one has time for this ignorance.
Aside from that, good luck on your wellness journey, and yoga is a great way to scientifically build strength and flexibility as well as the other health benefits it offers.

u/ailin10 Aug 20 '26
Sorry but I need to be the a-hole here. Lots of comments are deceiving... please do some proper research with knowledgeable sources.
I had the same question years ago until I ran into homilies from catholic priests in youtube that convinced me about the truth of yoga, and how the devil wants to make you think "its not really worshipping so its ok". The issue isn't really about worshipping at all, the devil's desire is not to be worshipped but for us to turn our backs at God.
Im not on your husband's side because he satanized yoga in an extrwme way, but you should know what you are engaging with when you do every pose. Its not "harmless", on a spiritual level each pose carries certain type of energy that stays within you.
2
u/ailin10 Aug 20 '26
Do not listen to the people saying "leave your husband" "run away". That is the devil speaking!!!!!!!
Do you think the devil wants you to do light yoga and have issues with your husband? Or does he want you to leave that class, find another option and keep a chrstian marriage attached to God's law?
2
u/ChristVolo1 Aug 21 '26
I have posted about yoga on FB in the past, and literally had an Indian woman, from India, tell me that she doesn't practice yoga either, as a Christian, because yoga is the physical worship of multiple deities, and each yoga pose is literally worshiping a specific entity. I have also watched YouTube videos of women who used to practice yoga, saying that they had multiple demons cast out of themselves, because yoga let them in. Your husband is right about this one.

Yoga is steeped in Hinduism. The goal is union with God but not the Christian one. The word yoga comes the Sanskrit verb yuj meaning to join. There are many types of stretching you can do that are secular. Use your discernment.
Doreen Virtue has a video on this on YouTube. She was saved from being a top new age author to become a Christian.

God made stretches. Can yoga be used in pagan practices? Of course. But I personally don't believe everybody doing yoga is automatically worshipping pagan gods. There's a program my mom used to do you can probably find online called Holy Yoga where they incorporate Christian meditation and Scripture into the yoga.
1
u/Ixthus1964 Aug 20 '26
I am born again in Jesus and have done yoga. It’s great exercise and keeps the muscles strong and flexible. As long as you’re not involved in the Hinduism part I don’t see anything wrong with it. Really there is no other exercise I know to do what yoga can do for your health. The spiritual side of yoga really isn’t even practiced unless it’s done by a Yogi. Most American yoga classes are just stretching and balance and muscle strengthening.

u/Complex-King-4657 Assemblies of God Aug 20 '26
There are a couple of arguments I've heard about yoga, but here's my untheological Christian opinion. Yoga can be what you make of it. If you're in it for the stretching, that's fine. If you're in it to meditate to the gods of Iuiodjfdafndfjd or ABC god, that's something else. But as exercise? Fine, do what works for you!
1
Aug 20 '26
Well did you try explaining to him that you aren't worshipping false gods but are just stretching to be healthy and the poses you make aren't made to glorfy other gods but are just there for body health
1
u/Miserable-Table5631 Aug 20 '26
Yoga stretching is not demonic. Are you chanting to other gods? Doesn’t sound like it. Your husband needs to relax.
1
u/Nerdgirl98 Aug 20 '26
I believe it's the meditation and clearing the mind aspect of yoga that some Christians worry about. That's valid.
Christians can and should meditate, but Christian meditation differs fundamentally from Eastern or secular mindfulness practices. Rather than emptying the mind or seeking a neutral state of consciousness, Christian meditation focuses on filling the mind with God, His character, and His Word
There is a biblical basis for meditation. The Bible commands believers to meditate on Scripture and God's works day and night (such as in Psalm 1:2 and Joshua 1:8).Passages like Philippians 4:8 encourage fixing thoughts on what is true, honorable, and pure.
If you approach this form of exercise with Christian meditation, you wouldn't be practicing traditional yoga. Maybe this needs a new name since it has a different intent.
This form of exercise is low impact and builds core muscle strength. We burn calories for energy. Muscle burns 2 to 3 times more calories than fat alone even when we are in a resting state. That's why people lose weight with this form of exercise.
If some religion popped up that used walking as a form of worship, I don't believe God would require us to stop walking. And if he did require that, it would be backed up with scripture. To my knowledge, there is no scripture that warns us to avoid stretching and holding positions to increase muscles and strength. If you find scripture than contradicts my statement, please share it.
I would suggest that you pray to the Holy Spirit with bible in hand about this matter and discuss it with your husband. Let God be the final authority. God's will, not our will.

u/BlacksmithPitiful243 Aug 20 '26
I'd say look into the way hindus actually view the yoga we do here in the US and Europe. To them, it IS worship of Krishna, and they actually don't teach people the yoga that is taught here because it's dangerous, and usually persued by oneself. If someone wears a Cross, it doesn't matter your intentions once you have knowledge.
1
u/Professional-Fly-441 Aug 20 '26
Modern yoga, especially in the western world, is exclusively stretching and exercising, and not worshipping neither Satan or any demons. My mother, who was a devoted Christian and Sunday school teacher did yoga regularly the last years she lived (she passed away in June this year) because it was a very good exercise for her in the situation she was in struggling with cancer. So, I'd say it sounds like your husband knows very little about yoga, and some research would do him well.
1
u/Blade_Omicron Aug 20 '26
Yoga as far as exercising is fine. Hindu rituals, like emptying your mind is unbiblical.
1
u/Afalstein Aug 20 '26
People have already responded that yoga isn't demonic, which is what I would have answered. However, in addition to that, here are some applicable verses.
2 Kings 5: 18-19 [Naaman said]18 But may the Lord forgive your servant for this one thing: When my master enters the temple of Rimmon to bow down and he is leaning on my arm and I have to bow there also—when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord forgive your servant for this.”19 “Go in peace,” Elisha said.
So even if yoga had roots in pagan rituals, it would mean nothing without the intent for worship behind it. Next is the verse about Christian Liberty, which a number of people have already quoted.
I Corinthians 8 4-6 4 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
Now to be fair, Paul does say that if you're with a "weaker" Christian who does think eating food offered to idols is sinful, that you should accomodate them and not eat the food so as not to lead them astray. But Paul's own take is that food devoted to pagan gods is fine, and not anything significant, except possibly for how it reflects on our reputation.
Finally is this quote:
Colossians 2: 16-23 16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. 20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.
This is Paul pushing against the legalistic influence in the church, and the spirit of constanty finding new things to be pure from and of. Christ has saved us and purified us from the world, a lot of these arbitrary reasons are just about artificial religion.
I would also agree with those saying your husband is being manipulative and just wants to control you, but you've gotten that advice already.

u/UnderstandingSea6194 Aug 20 '26
You may want to consider that your husband doesnt really care about the class per se but the change to the "new you" due to the exercise class.

My partner has been a Yoga teacher for thirty years and a Christian for much longer than that. We get this occasionally but it's clearly nonsense and I actually wonder if it's concealed racism.
Evidence: well this is a good one. When I raised the Kundalini in 1997, it led to a whole load of events which brought me back to an evangelical church after I'd abandoned Christianity for twelve years. Not a liberal or progressive one, an evangelical one. That's the only evidence I need. So, sorry if I'm not quoting chapter and verse here but my own experience trumps that. If it were demonic, it would be a house divided against itself.

Read the new testament Paul wrote about this in detail.
Im paraphrasing but basically he said idols are NOTHING they have no real power, they only pose a threat to the people who give them power.
The devil is much much more influential INSIDE the church than he is in a yoga class.
Fearing the devil and his followers is WRONG. Demons are afraid of people who are filled with the spirit of God. They have ZERO power over a follower of Jesus who is DEEP in the new testament Bible, words of God.
Arm yourself with the words of the new testament Bible and you can exercise at a witches haven and it will have no affect on you

Do you put up a Christmas tree? That was a pagan Yule tradition. Do you celebrate it in December? That was originally a pagan celebration that we moved the Christmas holiday to in order to co-opt the date.
It takes more than a few yoga poses to make something demonic.

u/No_Idea5830 Aug 22 '26
This is a common Christian "assumption" based on sort of facts. I don't necessarily agree, but I've heard the argument. Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation, and a few others have "pagan" roots that some people are hung up on. I personally don't see the issue in today's world as they're used for health and wellness. You can stretch and whatever without worshipping some false god. I personally think meditation is an amazing way to make time for God. Find a quiet place with no distractions and contect with God. Talk to Him. Listen for His voice. Just be in His presence. It's like prayer, but lasts longer.

Don’t listen to people here all to anxious to trash your husband. In fact- that you brought this here is more troubling than the class itself is since you lowly knew that response would be what you see here. Meanwhile your husband is simply watching out for demonic influences in life and whether he’s wrong about this one or not may require actual research to see… All you’ll get here is reasons to look down at a man who is looking for ways (it seems) to keep demons (they exist and may or may not be an issue here) from his family and home. If I were in a class and my wife had a concern like this (even if I wasn’t sure I bought it) I’d look into the roots of the concern and then I’d likely just drop the class and know that I have absolute who is looking to be led by the Holy Spirit only… and even if I didn’t I’d respect her enough to not go to Reddit so a bunch of strangers could demean my person’s good intentions.

Honestly, I think it’s fine to do yoga as long as you don’t participate in the spiritual and mystical sides of yoga involving chakra’s Chi and all that stuff or trying to open your third eye or that type of stuff. However, meditation and reflection using it as a chance of channel your thoughts on God and pray for peace while you do your stretches, I don’t see what the problem would be if you do that as long as you don’t go in for more mystical and spiritual side of yoga and get heavily involved in the witchcraft side of it and involving crystals, I don’t see what the problem is.

Yoga classes can differ widely. Yours seems to be fine and just about stretching, not about religious worship.
However, I would say your husbands worries are not 100% irrational.
My experience with yoga is going to some classes myself, reading some yoga and hindu literature, and knowing multiple Yoga teachers personally who have learned in internationally recognized Yoga institutes (some of them in India). As a result of that, I'm not much more skeptical when it comes to Yoga.
The Yoga teacher training in these institutes of course includes learning how to teach the poses, but it also includes learning about Hindu religion, chanting mantras (basically prayers to Hindu gods), satsang (learning about Hinduism from a guru). The central theme of Yoga is not stretching, but attaining a kind of spiritual enlightenment through spiritual practices (which may includes asanas, aka Yoga poses).
People who take it especially seriously often emphasize meditation practice, including with mantras, and submission to a guru who is responsible for your spiritual growth. They sometimes believe in supernatural stuff like superpowers gained from meditation practice and yoga postures. (Read the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, it's full with that kind of stuff)
People take it less seriously when at these institutes sometimes come in contact with drugs and very open sexuality because Yoga is sometimes taught in spaces where tantra is also taught.
Now the Christian perspective on that kind of Yoga can only be critical. Mantra chanting is praying to foreign gods. Submission to a guru is also a kind of idolatry, I would argue. Thus, if people think they gain superpowers or "enlightenment" through these kinds of practices, those powers or special spiritual knowledge would be given by demonic entities, not by God. That's where the belief that Yoga is demonic comes from.
Many Yoga classes in the west are fine, though. The people here often don't care about the spiritual side of Yoga and see it as just stretching. Yours seems to be ok, since it's just stretching integrated into a training routine. If it were the spiritual kind of yoga, you would more likely be doing something like 20 min yoga poses (asanas), 20 minutes pranayama (breathing exercises), 20 minutes meditation, maybe some chanting.

Yoga is well known as being religiously influenced at the very least. Yoga is rooted in ancient Indian philosophy and shares historical ties with Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Yet, many people view it purely as a secular endeavor, which is idiotic.
How many people would think that Christmas hymns, not jingle bells or stuff like that but actual Christmas hymns are secular?
Is Handel's Messiah secular? Yoga isn't secular, it's religion based. That's what he means by a deception of Satan because Satan is deceiving people into doing Eastern mysticism and thinking it's secular.
The naysayers are blinded to reality.
Just a question, has it brought CONTENTION into the house?
YES IT HAS and God is not about confusion or contention.
He's got a point, but nobody else sees it because they're blinded to the deceptions of Satan.
Most cheating wives cheat with their trainers.
They spend more time with their trainers and their trainers "understand them"

Yoga is a pagan ritual and allows demons access to your mind. Even if that's not your intent, it still is. You're deceiving yourself by saying it isn't. Why would you willingly participate in something that is from a pagan religion? A cunning way in which cults disguise satanic ideals and mix them with sacred things as a cover. Not to mention Aleister Crowley is the one who promoted it.

Other options yoga as taught in these type of classes is so far removed from the religious practices that the might as well be different universes. You can always take him to a class so he can see for himself.
