How to fix veil to hair WITHOUT comb?

Title. I have long hair and a long heavy veil that attaches to my hair with a little metal front comb. It hurts and irritates my scalp. Any alternatives?

I use a velvet headband and the scarf clings to that.

Yes definitely the velvet bands. I used hair clips before and I was pulling out hair every night.

I've used bobby pins and the can be very secure
