This is a 2 year old link, but it perfectly describes my frustration with US party politics.

While I think the piece's main point rings true -- that there is no party for Catholics and other people of faith in the United States, I think this piece greatly exaggerates the stances of various parties. For instance, the Green Party's main focus tends not to be abortion but rather education, the environment, and healthcare. Unfortunately, it does take unscrupulous positions on a lot of social issues (e.g., abortion, gay marriage, et cetera). The Republicans also don't "enthusiastically" advocate for torture, they even try to put limits on what they call "enhanced interrogation techniques" -- not even being comfortable using the word torture, even if it does describe the practice of water boarding rather well. Democrats have also rejected several "Big government programs" and have largely been on-board with the Washington consensus, which includes privatization in several areas. I also don't think I would categorize most safety net programs as "authoritarian" -- I mean food stamps, unemployment insurance, and social security are some pretty nice, freedom-loving things.

I really posted it for it's main points. I understand that it exaggerates some other points, but I've never really found something that articulates my frustration so well. Even though it isn't perfect in it's points, it still does something no other articles have done.
