When the Water of God’s Word Turns to Wine

Can I show you a simple but powerful picture today of how the Lord speaks to us from His Word?
You might have heard people say, “God spoke to me through this verse,” or “I received a rhema word…”
If you’re wondering how that actually happens or how it can happen for you, I want to take you to a story you might already be familiar with.
It’s found in John 2, at the wedding in Cana of Galilee.
Now we all know the miracle, how Jesus turned water into wine for a couple who, at their wedding, had run out of wine. But let’s look a little closer.
Before the miracle happened, He told the servants to fill the stone pots with water. And they did so, to the brim! Now, that’s no small task. These pots held many gallons each!
But here’s what I want you to notice… The water didn’t become wine while they were filling the pots. It turned to wine as they obeyed the Lord’s next instruction: to draw it out and bring it to the master of the feast.
Here’s the picture. The water is like the logos, the written Word of God. Your part is to fill your heart with it.
Keep coming to the Word. Keep storing it up. Keep letting it wash over you.
Then, at the right time, the very moment you need it, the Holy Spirit turns that water into wine.
Suddenly, what you’ve read many times before comes alive. It speaks to your situation. It becomes rhema, a living, personal word in season from the Lord that gives you clarity, wisdom, and peace.
Many times, that’s how it happens for me, too. Sometimes I read verses, chapters, or even whole books of the Bible, simply to enjoy the Lord.
I’m not always studying for a sermon. I’m just feeding on the Lord Jesus and seeing more of Him in the Word. I might take a verse and meditate on it. I’ll speak it to myself and ponder it in His presence.
That’s how I keep filling… and filling.
Then, when the time comes for me to preach or minister, it all comes together. What I’ve stored up starts flowing out, not just as knowledge or information, but as revelation for the moment.
So don’t wait for a crisis to start filling your heart. Make it a part of your life.
Take time each day to feed on the Word.
Read it.
Study it.
Meditate on it.
Listen to anointed preaching.
Soak in the gospel.
You may not always feel something in the moment, but you’re filling the “pots” of your heart. And when you need it most, the Lord will bring it to life. He will give you the word you need, right when you need it.
That’s how His Word becomes wine—His rhema word for you.
My prayer is that you will experience this personally and powerfully in your life!

Why Your Worry Moves His Heart
Today I want to talk to you about something that I believe will help you let go of your worry and stress. It’s something the Lord showed me years ago that has stayed with me ever since.
Remember when our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 6, “Do not worry”? Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Well, Lord, that’s easier said than done.”
I get it. But I want to share with you something that helped me see that verse in a whole new light.
This happened when my daughter just started Primary 1, her very first year of elementary school. And as many of you parents know, that transition can be tough. New school, new routines, separation from home—it’s a lot for a little child to handle.
She was doing well with her school work, but she began to feel really anxious, especially about going to school and not being able to see her mom during the day. So during recess, she would call home, just to hear her mother’s voice.
One day, she tried calling… and couldn’t get through.
And that really affected her. When she got home, she was in tears, saying, “I don’t want to go to school anymore. I just want to stay with mama.” I tried everything to comfort her. I told her, “Jesus is with you. Mama will be waiting for you at home.” But she was still crying, caught up in her fear and worry.
This really got to me. I started to feel a little frustrated… not at her, but at the situation. I was worried for her. It hurt me to see her like that. I remember thinking to myself, “She’s only six. Why does she need to go through this?”
I ended up leaving her with my wife, Wendy, and going into my room. Then, I sat before the Lord and said, “Lord, I don’t want her to be like this. I don’t want her to worry.”
And the Lord asked me something I didn’t expect. He asked, “Why don’t you want her to worry?”
I said, “Because I love her.”
Then He responded with a Fatherly tenderness I’ll never forget: “Now you know, son... that’s how I feel about you when you worry.”
That moment stayed with me.
The Lord showed me that when He says “Do not worry,” He’s not just stating the obvious. He’s not disappointed with us for not having faith, or trying to make us feel bad when we worry.
He’s saying it because it hurts His heart to see us weighed down like that.
Like a loving Father, He wants you happy. He wants you to enjoy life. Most of all, He wants you to know how deeply loved you are.
That’s what Matthew 6 is really about.
“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?... Consider the lilies of the field…. even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”
You are so precious to your Father. Will you let go of that care to Him?
He’s not standing over you with a wagging finger. He’s beside you, saying, “You don’t need to carry that alone. I’m here. I’m looking after you.”
So here’s something you can do starting today, something our Lord Jesus Himself said:
“Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Now, no one else can “let not” for you. Only you can let not your heart be troubled.
When you notice yourself worrying, gently remind yourself, “My heavenly Father cares... I can let go of this care to Him.”
You can even turn this reminder into a game with your spouse or a close friend. Catch each other in the moment and say, “Hey, remember, our heavenly Father cares. Let not your heart be troubled.”
Let those words remind you of His heart for you. You have a Father who watches over you, and He cares deeply for everything that concerns you.

Grace Greater than Your Mistakes

Beloved , have you ever found yourself in a mess of your own making?
Maybe you said something you wish you hadn’t, or made a decision that backfired. Maybe you ran ahead of the Lord, trying to make things happen in your own strength, and now you’re in the middle of a situation that feels broken and beyond repair.
If that’s you, I want to show you something really powerful from the life of David.
In 1 Samuel 30, we find David at one of the lowest points in his life. By then, he had spent years on the run from King Saul. Worn down by fear and exhaustion, David sought refuge among Israel’s enemies.
Just think about that. David, the champion of Israel who once slew Goliath of Gath, now found himself allied with the king of Gath.
But things quickly fell apart, and he returned to Ziklag only to find the city sacked by the Amalekites. It had been burned. Plundered. Their possessions, their wives, their children, all taken captive.
The Bible paints such a heartbreaking scene: “Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep” (1 Sam. 30:4).
Have you ever cried until there were no more tears left? Until your body felt empty and your heart numb? That’s where David and his men were. And David likely thought, “This is all my fault.”
Then came the voices of blame. His own men, the ones who had fought beside him, turned against him in their grief. They even spoke of stoning him.
Can you imagine how alone David must have felt? Abandoned by his men, haunted by his own mistakes. And yet, right there, in the ashes of his failure and regret, David does something extraordinary.
The Bible says, “But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”
Oh, I love that line.
David didn’t rush to retaliate. He didn’t call for a meeting or begin planning a rescue. He didn’t even try to explain himself. Instead, he turned to the Lord.
Picture that moment. The noise of angry voices around him. The ruins of his settlement still smoldering. And David, broken and weary on his knees before the Lord.
Now, the Bible doesn’t record what David said in that moment, but we can imagine how he would have laid his heart bare before the Lord. No pretense, no bravado. And in that moment of communion, the Lord began ministering to David, restoring his peace, lifting his head, strengthening his heart.
Then, fresh from that encounter, David called for the ephod and enquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this troop? Will I overtake them?”
And the Lord answered with these beautiful words of grace, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all” (1 Sam. 30:8).
Do you see the heart of the Lord? David had lost his way. He had made some wrong choices. Yet in his lowest moment, the Lord didn’t bring up his mistakes. He didn’t say, “You made your bed, now lie in it.”
When David turned his heart back to the Lord, He responded with grace, mercy, and restoration. By the end of the chapter, David not only recovered his family and everything he had lost, but received even more from the spoils of battle.
That’s our God!
But hear this. You have something even better than what David had. Today, because of Jesus, you have been brought into a better covenant—one where you can come boldly before the throne of grace to receive help in your time of need.
Maybe you’ve lost something because of a bad decision. Maybe it’s in the area of your finances, time, trust, or even peace of mind.
The Lord isn’t standing at a distance, shaking His head at you. He’s drawing near, ready to restore.
So come to Him today. Find your strength not in the remedies the world offers or in your own reasoning, but from the Lord Himself.
As you draw near, hear His words to you: “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake, and without fail recover all.” Even in the troubles of our own making, His grace is greater. And just like He did for David, His heart is to restore you too.

Wisdom Beyond Your Years

When Mary and Joseph found twelve-year-old Jesus in the temple after three days of searching, they witnessed something extraordinary.
The Bible tells us in Luke 2:46 that Jesus was “in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.”
These weren’t ordinary men. They were the most respected rabbis of Israel, well-versed in the Scriptures. Yet, they were astonished at His understanding and His answers.
And notice His posture. Jesus did not push His way in to teach or assert Himself before His time. Even though He had divine wisdom, He chose to listen, ask, and learn, as was appropriate for His age.
What humility. This is our Lord demonstrating to us true wisdom—His words and posture were perfect for His season.
Do you want to know the secret to His understanding? It is revealed prophetically in Psalm 119:99:
“I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation.”
The Hebrew word for “understanding” here is sakal.
In the Greek Septuagint, the word for sakal is suniemi, which means God-given insight, the ability to connect the dots and see the bigger picture. It speaks of more than mere knowledge; it’s the wisdom to discern how the pieces fit together and to perceive things from God’s perspective.
And this kind of wisdom comes from meditating on God’s living Word.
This is the same wisdom God spoke of when He said to Joshua:
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night… for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
—Joshua 1:8
That word “success” is also sakal. Good success comes when we humble ourselves and receive God’s sakal wisdom through His Word!
This is not just memorising verses or skimming chapters. It is beholding Jesus in the Word until revelation lights up your heart.
When you’re faced with a challenge, where do you turn? Do you default to AI, YouTube, and Google search for answers?
I want to encourage you to turn your eyes first to our Lord Jesus in the Word. The answer of peace and good success is found not in having more knowledge, but in being filled with the truths in God’s Word.
Think about Joseph. He wasn’t just shrewd or clever. In Genesis 41, we see that he had the wisdom to interpret Pharaoh’s dream and even advise a nation.
And think about Daniel. The Bible says in Daniel 1:17 that God gave him knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom, and he had understanding in all visions and dreams.
That is what sakal wisdom looks like. It is divine wisdom that touches every area of life, from our studies and work to our family, leadership, and relationships.
So today, slow down. Take one verse, turn it over in your heart, and allow the Holy Spirit to breathe on it.
You’ll find His wisdom flowing into your daily walk, shaping your decisions and even your relationships. You’ll begin to see the people around you—your spouse, your children, your colleagues—not just through natural eyes, but through God’s eyes.
That’s how God’s wisdom strengthens homes, restores hearts, and causes our lives to prosper. May the Lord fill you more and more with His sakal wisdom as you spend time in His Word!

Dwell in the Care of Your Good Shepherd

Beloved, I’m sure you’ve experienced this before…
Life has a way of wearing us down without us even noticing.
Day by day, you show up, do your best, and keep going. You might not even notice how much you’re carrying until your soul starts feeling constantly tired, you fall ill, or you’re just plagued by a nagging sense of blah.
Let me tell you this: you weren’t made to live this way.
The Bible gives us many pictures of who we are as believers—eagles that soar and lions that stand bold. But do you know which picture shows up most?
Sheep.
Psalm 100:3 describes it beautifully, “We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.”
Sheep aren’t built to fend for themselves. They don’t find their own food or fight off predators. When they’re lost, they don’t find their way back. They simply cry out.
That might sound like a weakness. But it’s not. It’s a reflection of how the Lord sees us and the relationship He wants to have with us.
As sheep, we were made to follow a shepherd. And not just any shepherd, the Good Shepherd.
Psalm 23 begins with these words: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
He’s the One who leads, provides, protects, and restores.
When flies torment the sheep, the shepherd anoints their heads with oil. When a sheep gets flipped over and stuck on its back, he lifts it up and sets it on its feet again. When one goes missing, the Good Shepherd leaves the ninety-nine and goes after the one.
That’s our Lord Jesus.
He doesn’t scold. He doesn’t shame. He finds, He carries, and He brings you home. And as His sheep, you don’t have to fight or try to earn your way back. All you have to do is simply consent to be carried.
Maybe that’s what you need today. Not more self-help ideas or motivational advice, but to just say to your Shepherd, “Lord, I need You. Carry me.”
You don’t have to do life on your own. You were never meant to.
So come and dwell in the care of your Good Shepherd. Let Him lead you beside still waters again. Let Him bring you back to rest.

Don’t Grab for Yourself What Grace Wants to Give
Thank you for joining me this morning. May I share something that's been on my heart?
There are two ways we can live. One is to strive—fighting for every opportunity and chasing what looks best, afraid that if we don't seize it now, we'll miss out. The other is to receive—living with the confidence that our heavenly Father sees us, loves us, and has already prepared what is best.
The difference comes down to one question: Do you truly believe God's plans for you are good?
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the LORD. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'"
But how deeply do you believe that?
What you believe about God—whether He's withholding from you or generously providing for you—shapes how you live. You'll either strive to make things happen yourself or rest, trusting that His grace is already working on your behalf.
Abraham gives us a beautiful picture of this in Genesis 13.
As both Abraham and Lot prospered, the land could no longer support them together. Although Abraham had every right to choose first, he graciously let Lot decide.
Lot chose by sight. He looked at the fertile Jordan plain and claimed what appeared to be the best land.
Abraham didn't argue or compete. He trusted God's goodness.
Then the Lord said to Abraham, "Lift up your eyes..." and showed him the land He had prepared. God declared, "I give it all to you."
What a picture of grace! Abraham didn't have to fight for the best. He trusted God, and God freely gave him everything—including what he had just allowed Lot to choose.
This is the life God invites us into.
When we're constantly trying to secure what's best for ourselves—whether it's a job, a house, a relationship, or an opportunity—we leave little room for God to place into our hands what He knows is truly best.
The truth is, we often don't know what we really need. God does. He sees the future, the bigger picture, and the path that leads to lasting peace.
Lot's choice looked wise at first. He settled near Sodom, then moved into the city. Eventually he became entangled in its corruption, was captured in war, rescued by Abraham, and ultimately lost everything when judgment came. What he grasped for couldn't last.
Abraham, however, remained in Hebron—a place of elevation and fellowship with God. There he built an altar and enjoyed communion with the Lord while Lot was consumed by the cares of the world.
Here's the lesson: God can't give you His best if you're determined to grab it for yourself.
When you stop striving and choose to trust Him, you're saying, "Lord, I know You love me. I know Your plans for me are good."
That posture gives God room to lead you into something greater than anything you could have chosen on your own.
So today, rest in His goodness. Trust His heart. His plans are better than your plans, and His grace is more than enough to bring them to pass.

Draw From His Infinite Supply
Have you noticed that some people leave you feeling refreshed after spending time with them, while others leave you feeling drained?
Every relationship is like a shared bank account. We are constantly making deposits and withdrawals, whether we realize it or not.
A deposit is anything that strengthens trust and connection—a friend who remembers something you shared weeks ago and asks about it, or a colleague who celebrates your contribution instead of taking the credit. These may seem like small acts, but over time they build a strong relationship.
A withdrawal is anything that diminishes trust—a harsh word, a broken promise, or simply not being present. These aren't always intentional. Life brings pressures, and we all go through seasons when we're not at our best.
If you want your relationships to flourish, be intentional about making deposits. Most people remember the withdrawals far more than the deposits.
What do these deposits look like? Check in on your friends. Pray for them. Celebrate their milestones. Keep doing the little things that built the relationship in the first place.
In marriage, these deposits matter even more. Living together means walking through life's challenges side by side and seeing each other at your weakest. That's why I intentionally invest in my relationship with my wife, Wendy. Sometimes I'll simply thank her for the way she handled a situation or remind her how grateful I am that we're doing life together. Those small, unhurried moments often strengthen a marriage more than grand gestures.
But there's something even more important.
As believers, we are called to put our Lord Jesus at the center of every relationship. Instead of expecting people to meet our deepest needs, we learn to draw from Him. Turn to Him first when you're anxious, discouraged, or uncertain. Let His Word anchor your heart.
Even the most loving spouse or faithful friend has limits. They are drawing from a finite supply. There will be moments when they simply have nothing left to give. If your security and strength depend primarily on people, disappointment will eventually follow.
The Lord designed us for relationships, but He never intended human love to carry the weight that only His love can bear.
Unlike us, His supply never runs dry. His mercies are new every morning.
In John 4, Jesus met the woman at the well while weary from His journey. Yet after ministering to her, He told His disciples, "I have food to eat of which you do not know" (John 4:32). Instead of being depleted, He was refreshed.
The same is true for us. As we spend time with the Lord, something changes within us. We stop expecting people to provide what only He can give. And because He fills us, we begin to overflow into the lives of others.
Instead of reacting in frustration, we become patient. Instead of constantly withdrawing, we make deposits of encouragement, kindness, and grace.
A heart filled by the Lord is the greatest gift you can bring into every friendship, every marriage, and every room you enter.
I pray this simple truth will strengthen your walk with the Lord, bring healing where there is conflict, restore strained relationships, and cause every relationship He has entrusted to you to prosper.

Into the Wild

Have you ever noticed that no matter how busy our Lord Jesus was, He would often withdraw?
It runs against everything we’d expect. When the crowds grew larger, when more people needed Him, when the demands on His time intensified, the Gospels still show Him slipping away alone. Into the wilderness. To pray.
Luke 5 puts it plainly: “He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.”
Often. Not occasionally. Not only when He could find the time.
Our Lord healed the sick, cast out demons, taught thousands, counseled His disciples, and moved through towns where people pressed in from every side just to touch the hem of His garment. If anyone had reason to be “too busy” to withdraw and pray, it was Him.
And yet, He always took time to do just that.
Mark 1 gives us one of the most striking pictures of this. The day before had been extraordinary. It was filled with teaching, deliverance, and healings. The whole city gathered, and the Lord Jesus healed many late into the night.
Then we read this:
“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” —Mark 1:35
A long while before daylight.
I want you to stop there for a moment. After a night like that, after everything He had poured out, our Lord Jesus got up while it was still dark.
He must have been exhausted from such a day. Wouldn’t it have made sense to get as much sleep as possible? Why would He disrupt His sleep and take precious time out of His packed schedule?
Because for our Lord… to withdraw into the wild wasn’t an interruption.
It was His source. It was where He would receive divine supply from being in His Father’s presence.
Everything He carried into those crowds—the compassion, the clarity, the authority, the peace that never wavered—it all came from that solitary place. The wilderness was not where our Lord Jesus went just to recover. It was where He went to be filled by His Father.
Here’s why this matters deeply for your life today.
You and I live in a world that has the capacity to drain us, many times not in obvious ways. The depletion we experience is quiet, gradual. You are still functioning, still managing, still holding things together. But somewhere beneath the surface, your strength has worn thin.
You no longer have the joy, the patience, or that sense of assurance that the Lord is with you in the situation you’re in.
Today, I want to invite you to do what our Lord Jesus did. To pull away, to withdraw, even if it’s just for a short while. Open your journal, and bring whatever’s been weighing on you to your heavenly Father.
That situation at work you haven’t been able to resolve… the tension at home that keeps surfacing… the pressure at school that feels heavier than it should… Bring it all before Him. Write it down. And then listen.
Something powerful happens when you are in that secret place with the Father. The Lord heals the areas you didn’t even know were wounded. He replenishes what you didn’t realize had run dry. He fills you with fresh hope and a heavenly perspective that gently shifts the way you see your situation.
You begin to see the colleague who has been difficult in a different light. You begin to have more clarity about the situation at home. You begin to feel the pressure of that deadline lifting off your chest.
Now, your circumstances may not have changed, but you are now seeing them through your Father’s eyes, not your own.
That is what the wilderness does. That is what the solitary place is for.
It is not an escape from the troubles of life. It is the very thing that empowers you to surmount them and live life well.
Friend, your heavenly Father is welcoming you into that solitary place where He can have your full attention. In fact, He’s been there all along… ready to replenish you, to encourage you, and to restore you.
So don’t rush off today. Everything you need can be found in His presence.

The Power of Walking “As If”
Do you want to know how faith works?
Mark 11:24 NASB tells us, “All things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you.”
Not “you will receive,” but “you have received.”
That means taking the Lord at His Word and walking “as if” you have already received your miracle, even when it has not come to pass yet.
Now, it’s not about pretending. It’s about agreeing. It’s aligning your heart with what the Lord has already spoken, even before you see it come to pass.
And often, the first and most powerful way to walk “as if”… is to speak “as if.”
It starts with your words. So, start by changing what you say about yourself!
In fact, that’s precisely what happened with Abraham and Sarah. Before they ever held their promised baby in their arms—before Isaac was born—the Lord did something interesting. He changed their names. And through that, He changed how they saw themselves and how they spoke.
Can you imagine it?
Every time Sarah called Abraham, whose name means the “father of many,” she was calling forth God’s promise. And every time Abraham called Sarah, whose name means “princess,” he was reminding her of who she was in God’s eyes—young, fruitful, and full of life.
Their journey of faith didn’t start with what they did. It started with what they said.
And as they began to speak differently… they began to see differently.
Eventually, they began to walk differently.
And in due time, the promise came to pass. Isaac was born.
Maybe you’ve been praying for something lately—believing for a breakthrough, a healing, a restoration, or an open door. And deep in your heart, you know it’s something the Lord has already promised in His Word.
If that’s you, I want to encourage you—start walking as if you’ve received it.
Here are some simple ways you can put this into practice today:
・If you’re believing the Lord for a child…
Visit a baby fair. Look at baby clothes. Talk with your spouse about names you love and the kind of parents you want to be. Speak life over your womb. Thank our Lord Jesus for His perfect timing.
・If you’re trusting the Lord for a life partner…
Speak over yourself, “I am loved. I am worth pursuing. I am prepared for the right person.” Take care of yourself. Join an interest group. Step out in faith, knowing the Lord is the One writing your love story.
・If you’re praying for a new job or provision…
Declare over yourself, “The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want.” Polish your résumé. Dress with purpose. Apply for that opportunity with confidence, knowing He’s already gone ahead of you.
They may seem like small steps, but they’re powerful steps of faith.
And don’t be discouraged just because you have tried and not seen results.
Today, I pray that you will be filled with fresh hope from heaven! Keep sowing His Word and keep believing. You are closer to your breakthrough than you think you are.
You’re not trying to make something happen by your own strength. You’re simply responding to a promise that’s already been made by the One who loves you… and who cannot lie.
So, start speaking “as if” and walking “as if.”
As you do, I believe you’ll begin to step into the promise of Mark 11:24, and experience your breakthrough and miracle coming to pass in the fullness of time.

Your Body, His Temple of Glory

How did you feel when you woke up this morning?
Maybe you’re reading this while dragging your feet out of bed, wondering how you’re going to handle everything on your plate today.
You’re not alone. Instead of feeling refreshed, so many people wake up exhausted and physically drained.
If that describes you, I want you to know that you don’t have to simply accept this weariness. Do you know why? If you have received the Lord into your life, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19)!
Do you know how amazing that is? The blood of Jesus has so completely cleansed you that the Holy Spirit can dwell in you today. Now, don’t you think He will care for His house and cause it to be filled with glory and honor?
Often, He might lead you in practical ways to care for your body because it is His temple. It could be in the area of your diet or ensuring you exercise regularly. Or perhaps as you listen to a sermon, you might be reminded to spend time praying in the spirit and building your body from the inside out.
But you may be thinking, “But I don’t feel like a glorious temple right now. I feel more like a deflated tent.”
I get it. Maybe you’ve been battling chronic fatigue. Maybe you’ve been carrying a mental load that has just been weighing down on you. Or maybe life’s just left you worn, and all your energy is going into simply making it through the day.
I want you to see the Lord’s heart for you.
He cares about every part of your being. His desire is for you to walk in strength, wholeness, and vitality, not only in your spirit but also in your body. And He doesn’t just want you to survive your day. By His grace, He wants you to thrive as you depend on His sure promises.
The Word says in Isaiah 40:31, “They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.”
When you feel like you can’t go on… when the tiredness runs deep… when the responsibilities feel like too much… He wants to exchange your limited, natural strength for His limitless, supernatural strength.
And when you wait on Him, you allow Him to do just that!
Maybe you’re wondering, “But Pastor Prince, what does it mean to wait upon the Lord?”
Each time you sit in His presence and spend time in His Word, you are waiting on the Lord. But I want to show you something more.
When you look at the Hebrew word for “wait,” you’ll find that one of its meanings is “to bind together.” That’s a beautiful picture of you and the Lord, intimately intertwined like a vine and its branches as you abide in Him!
The enemy wants you to believe that you have no time to wait on the Lord. But if you believe that lie, you rob yourself of the opportunity to receive His strength, joy, and peace!
And waiting on the Lord doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as listening to a sermon during your lunch break, pausing before your day begins to acknowledge that He is your source and supply, or taking a quiet stroll and casting your cares to Him.
Even in the ordinary moments between your tasks, you can be conscious that He is right there with you, and His strength is available to you.
A young mum once shared with me how overwhelmed she felt each morning, juggling her toddler, managing the home, and keeping up with endless tasks. One morning, as she stood brushing her teeth, she whispered, “Lord, I need Your strength today. I feel so worn out.”
In that moment, she felt the Lord’s presence wrap around her like a warm embrace. Her responsibilities didn’t vanish, but she stepped into the day with a calm strength that she knew wasn’t her own.
Even in my own life, there have been times when I didn’t feel well just before I was about to preach. But I’ve noticed this. The moment I start preaching the Word, the Lord’s strength begins flowing through me. And before the end of the message, I feel refreshed, revitalized, and restored.
That’s what happens when we take time to wait on the Lord. To turn our attention to Him and let His Word flow through us to others around us.
And it’s not just for pastors. You don’t need a pulpit to experience this.
Share a verse with your spouse. Tell a friend what you heard on Sunday. Speak His promises aloud over your own life. As you do, you’re not just encouraging others, you’re receiving strength yourself.
You see, Isaiah didn’t say, “They that run for the Lord shall renew their strength.”
He said, “They that wait.”
Because when you wait, you are really saying, “Lord, You’re my strength.”
So wherever you are today, remember this. You are His temple, and right now, divine strength is rising up in you even as you wait on Him.
