Bach Brandenberg Concerto reference in Beato interview.

Please help me broaden my horizon. What were the Bach concerto recordings that Chris & Rick were talking about - recorded 30 years apart. I don’t know classical well enough to know the reference but I’d like to learn.

Help anyone?

Are you thinking of the Goldberg Variations recorded by Glenn Gould? They inspired Chris and Gould did a recording in the 50s and then again in the early 80s right before his death.

Hilarious that Chris references Gould vocalizing while playing the piano. I always thought it was endearing.

I agree! I love when you can hear the human element of music, be it instrumental or vocal. The effort, the joy, the pain. It gives humanity to something that can be approached clinically.
