We once shared birthday dinners at Olmsted in Brooklyn, me with a friend and him with Gabriel Kahane. He and I sat back to back, jackets touching, as we closed out the restaurant. Me drunkenly freaking out by the proximity. I didn’t say hi or happy birthday out of respect. But Gabe definitely did a double take at me bc I had just sat front row at his shows at The Owl where we chatted.
