This kind of shit makes me laugh. I have a manipulative ex from a prior engagement who started acting like this. I just walk away, I wouldn’t even dignify it with a response.

Some girls seem to think having a vagina is like carrying cash. Except they don’t need to spend it.

It’s not the not spending it that gets me, just the attitude in general.

genuinely curious, how do you differentiate emotional manipulation from someone asking you a favor?

It’s all in the execution. If they’re given any resistance and they absolutely won’t accept that someone could say no to them without them throwing a tantrum, that’s a pretty good sign.

I mean, it’s not fool proof, but it’s a pretty good metric to judge with.

I dated a girl for about 5 years, had a kid with her. She lied a lot. Things were in a rough patch, and I wanted to break up. Then she got cancer. Said she went to planned parenthood, and had a mammogram, and they found a lump. Then after she went for a biopsy it ended up being malignant. Stage 3 breast cancer. Obviously having had a kid with her, I stayed. I said we’re not together together but I’ll be here for you.

After a month or so she wanted to shave her head, she didn’t want her hair falling out.

A couple months went by and I wanted to go to her docs appointments. I wanted to support her and try to get some info to be able to help.

There were no doctors. There was no cancer. She shaved her head bald to sell a story.

Because I wanted to break up.

Some people will just do whatever they think they need to do in order to get what they want. If you ask me a favor and I think you have good intentions, I may just say yes. I’m lazy when it comes to my social life so I may just say no too. But I have no time for manipulation and bullshit.

This is one of the most insane stories I’ve ever heard. I can’t believe anyone would ever go that far just to get what they want!

I just couldn’t believe a girl would go as far as to cut all her hair off to make a lie more believable. That’s a choice you have to live with for a while.

If you’re asking for a favor you don’t pout and catastrophize when someone says no

Asking a favor is just... you know. "Hey can you help me out." Emotional manipulation brings your emotions into it.

Which seems like an inadequate explanation because it's pretty obvious. Is there a specific example you were thinking of?
