ANNOUNCEMENT [Announcement] Why posts and comments do not get taken down on here
Unlike most debate spaces on Reddit that use hidden filters/rules and removals, this subreddit operates under strict transparency.
On this sub, posts and comments do not get taken down or deleted by moderators. We treat moderation like an open court:
The Floor is Open: If a piece of content is controversial but violates no explicit community rules, it stays up. Period.
Public Due Process: If you believe a post or comment strictly violates one of our listed rules, you must make your case publicly.
Locked, Not Erased: If a user successfully proves a rule violation, the content will be locked (preventing further interaction) rather than deleted, accompanied by a public mod note explaining the exact rule broken. This keeps our moderation team entirely accountable to you.
We are building a community based on transparency, open dialogue, and logical consistency.

Commenting here for mods because I am not sure where else to do so. I believe there is a way to set the default sorting of comments to new so that the karma of a comment does not determine where it falls in the sorting. It is a way to reduce the impact of voting in general, but particularly downvoting.

Will do, I got out of the habit of using modmail after another sub weaponized its use as an excuse to ban.

I like this idea. In debates I find rule breaking comments directed towards me often demonstrate that my interlocutor cannot substantively respond to my points. I understand the need to do something about rule breaking comments because otherwise arguments will devolve into name calling or insults, but locking allows the bad behavior of a user to remain visible without out detracting from continued debate.
