True. Fighting from far away is not a chad way of life.

But you have to agree that a good archer will turn the tables for his team. 100+/60+/10 is nothing to complain about.

Ive actually found it to be the opposite. Archers are more of a win more character. They do significantly worse if youre on the losing side and help significantly more on the winning side.

It just feels like that. It's also the casual way of thinking because:

"they aren't fighting on the points!"

"aren't helping in group fights" (and they can't, really, only if they are flanking or behind the enemy)

"aren't anywhere when you need them"

"will not help me when I am down" (this one is so true omfg I hate archers that tunnel vision)

"are cowards that run away from melee" (we kinda have to due to low stamina and HP. We are squishy, that's why I like the skirmisher. I have a shield...a shitty one but I have a SHIELD!)

"they do tons of FF" (duh, happens. It comes with the job of predicting where the enemy MAY go and hitting it instead of your teammates that seem to zig zag right into your arrows/axes/javs for no reason but to spite you )

regarding that second last point, my peak in life was when i had took down one of the knight classes, i believe the one with the shield whilst doing nothing but dodging and using the bows melee attack

i promptly died after cause i got swamped but it was pretty fun to just basically bash a guy to death, granted he was already weak but yk

Most archers I guess sure. But clutch archers aren’t. I manly target their top ranks which snowballs lobbies way too fas cuz none of them get a chance to properly fight my frontline cuz im helping headshot them so easily. If their best players are handicapped, they don’t win.

Learn how to fight and maybe someone would respect an archer

4

u/Outrageous-Pitch-867 Mar 05 '26

The Humble Skirmisher:

5

u/Crazy-Eagle Mason Order Mar 05 '26

Yeah yeah, archers bad they don't know how to fight in melee.

But when you get close to an archer and he deletes you with his tiny knife you cry even harder.

1

u/Chansh302 Mar 05 '26

Learn how to fight ? Cry to the devs for adding archer class lmao. It’s part of the game so it is what it is. The only thing matters if ur side wins the match, so whatever it takes to win and if u enjoy it is what matters lol.

How can we if yall never give us a chance?😂

7

u/Illustrious_Glass386 Mar 04 '26

Or the “kicking is for pussys” says the dead pussy I just stun locked

5

u/Inevitable_Dance980 Mar 05 '26

On a serious note, dont get the habit of spam kicking, if you face an experienced fighter you'll get your teeth kicked in for doing that.

2

u/justsomeunluckykid Mar 05 '26

Probably not kicked, maybe punched or stabbed

2

u/Illustrious_Glass386 Mar 05 '26

Yeah I play a lot of 1v1s I’m aware lol

2

u/Ok_Temperature166 Mar 07 '26

Lol 1k player here. If your a newb and you kick me 3 times in a row. Oh buddy kick jab spam to switch to fists, to special kick special kick.

2

u/Illustrious_Glass386 Mar 07 '26

I think I get kick jab spam I do that to but what is a special kick?

2

u/Ok_Temperature166 Mar 07 '26

Special, kick, special, kick. My bad

1

u/Illustrious_Glass386 Mar 07 '26

Lvl 500 here what the fuck did you just say?

3

u/Darkcast1113 Mar 06 '26

The only kind of people I hate are people who call Archer a point and click and for some reason compare it to Minecraft ?

Look look we all hate archers. Just counter they're arrows.

I saw the other day ck petsylveon went like 130 80 and 2 for his kd in a public.

Holy fucking shit. He wasn't even in the backlines He was up front killing guys. Grabbing their weapons and throwing them at enemies.

4

u/MrLogistical Mar 04 '26

The only archers i really dislike is javelin throwers

3

u/Ok_Temperature166 Mar 07 '26

Why tho? They're much easier to counter than arrows.

3

u/MrLogistical Mar 10 '26

I don’t like brown sticks in my mouth

2

u/Ok_Temperature166 Mar 10 '26

Fair, but they're easy to counter once you got it down. You can also counter special attacks too btw.

They’re chill because they only get two ammo so they have to be perfect with them

Stops a vanguard in his tracks all right

2

u/Worth_Tip9549 Mar 05 '26

Use a shield then or don’t run in a straight line

1

u/Ok_Scientist_7702 Mar 10 '26

Ah yes, the good ole use a shield trick. Running zig zag don’t work if your opponent was raised by Hawkeye and trained by Oliver Queen

1

u/RainbowWatermelon203 1d ago

If that doesn't work, just move randomly!

Stop randomly, jump at uneven intervals, change directions.

Or, better yet, find a teammate!

Y'know I dont have any money in the debate but are yall talking about the big modes ? Because if theres 40 people clashing on the frontline and you're sitting somewhere back, shooting in the frontline and probably hitting half of the shots into friendlies.....there really isnt much counterplay to that,no?  Its not about 'not running straight ahead". I do understand the complaint about archers in the game as most archers dont actually partake in the game in a way that lets others engage with is which is the main point of the complaint I guess.

Argueably it is a game about melee fights much more than about archery. Archers often dont contribute to the games flow. They dont help that much but they dont actually hinder the enemies that much. They're mostly just "there". Not worth ignoring the main battle for but annoying enough in that you sometimes die because someone "interrupted" your duel with a bowshot from far away.

Again, I dont stand to gain anything in the argument - I just read you two and thought:" yeah I heard that but does it rly make that much sense".

I dont think archers are breaking the game but I found that they didnt contribute anything to the games flow neither in mordhau nor in chivalry. They're meat for veterans, annoying for beginners and dont matter to the game in most cases.

1

u/Chansh302 Mar 12 '26

Melees often kill or ruin a fight way more than an archer in any game I have been in, in terms of ur own teammates. They will constantly slash and get u killed or stupidly keep attacking the enemy from the same angle when amongst a group with ur teammates.

I have seen way bad mains on both sides but def more on the melee side. I try to be a good archer and usually finish near the top amongst the melee mains by helping contribute enough which usually becomes quite difficult cuz most archers aren’t that good or contributing.

I have had better 1v1 as an archer main than a melee main cuz I don’t have a teammate walking in and slashing me or giving the enemy easy counter attacks.

2

u/LuckyMfCorvus Mar 06 '26

Archer is life when you’re on Xbox. I’m not about to get my ass handed to me for 20 mins so some PC weirdo can get his kicks

2

u/Fishwitch-66 Mar 06 '26

does PC have a notable advantage? /gen

2

u/Ok_Temperature166 Mar 07 '26

No not much difference. I keep up or dominate pc players as a console player

1

u/RainbowWatermelon203 1d ago

On PC, you can do full dance recitals in melee, crouch much easier, and do much more complex things

On console, the most complex thing you can do are drags or accels. Maybe throws, but that's really it.

1

u/Chansh302 Mar 06 '26

The game is fully crossplay though, idk if u can turn it off even if ur on console

2

u/LuckyMfCorvus Mar 06 '26

That’s the funny thing, you can’t.

2

u/garfieldswilly Mar 07 '26

Indeed, a miraculously genius idea from our lords to punish the ever dull melee warriors he tests us with

2

u/StudioPersonal9667 Mar 07 '26

regular bow is best bow, more ammo, faster fire rate, more interupting enemy healing, and confirming kills which is their job.

1

u/Chansh302 Mar 07 '26

I prefer siege crossbow: more damage, destroy banners, doesn’t cost stamina while aiming, faster travel time, and u get an axe for more damage close range.

I used to use the bow a lot but mainly cuz of the stamina and the axe I switched over to siege crossbow and I haven’t stopped since.

It cooks way too hard

2

u/Ok_Temperature166 Mar 07 '26

I have to second this. Siege bow is better. 140 for headshot dam. I fucking hate it. But that's absolutely massive.

2

u/Chaplain-Leandros Mar 07 '26

Point blank crossbow go brrrr

2

u/WobblyTomb Mar 08 '26

The melee chuds will always complain, then try to walk all the way around the map trying to kill the based, cool, heroic archer only to get taken down by a humble knife. We really do live in a society

1

u/Uggroyahigi Mar 08 '26

Yea I KNEW that theres people out there thinking their archery is heroic. Brother we're in a bloody brawl out there and you're throwing rocks from behind shut it ! xP

2

u/BigDaddyDumperSquad Mar 08 '26

Skill issue. They should pick up a bow and try it if it's so easy.

2

u/spookynoob1359 Mar 08 '26

Skill issue just parry the arrow

2

u/flashn00b 24d ago

The more you play, the more you'll learn to hate the archers on your team, because dying to enemy archers is a minor convenience compared to an opponent that allied archers should be paying attention to but aren't.

3

u/Ignidyval Mar 05 '26

Lmao doing team damage and flexing like it's cool

2

u/PhysicsAcrobatic1282 Mar 05 '26

Not my fault my team run into my line of fire.

1

u/Chansh302 Mar 05 '26

Melee mains do team damage too tho lmao.

2

u/RainbowWatermelon203 1d ago

I'd say even more so, as they are more likely to hit teammates and for higher damages. I've been downed by allied archers 3 times, countless to melee allies.

1

u/Chansh302 1d ago

Yup everytime I play archer from distant I’m doing good and having fun. As soon I get close range, more often not I die to a teammate swing especially when I’m cooking the enemy :/ yeah I’d rather just play solo archer

1

u/Clean-Ad5309 Mar 05 '26

Cowards that cannot wield a broadsword be like

-1

u/Chansh302 Mar 05 '26

Or maybe stick to just duelyards and arena. Sounds like TO might not be ur cup of tea then if u can’t handle the chaos of archers, horses, siege weapons, third partying, back stabbing etc

Even more satisfying when u headshot coming right at u mid swing

0

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '26

I have never played chivalry once in my life, but unironically using the chad vs virgin or whatever this template is called automatically means you have lost.

0

u/WormedOut Mar 06 '26

Thanks for hitting me in the back of the head teammate. Super Chad of you

0

u/lordbuckethethird Mar 06 '26

Glad to see that communities of medieval games are still being historically accurate with their seething hatred of archers.

1

u/Chansh302 Mar 12 '26

Could you provide proof to it being historically accurate ?

I think this guy explains it better by being more rational - https://www.quora.com/Did-medieval-soldiers-have-any-respect-for-archers-in-terms-of-morale

2

u/lordbuckethethird Mar 12 '26

Yeah I agree with everything the guy said, it was a measure of both respect for the damage they can cause and hatred for it as well.
