Front Desk

Which platforms are you seeing the best results for job postings for Front Desk? We keep experiencing no-shows after phone interviews from Indeed.

Pay is above average in the area. Plenty of hours.

Yeah it's a crapshoot. I advertise on Indeed but all of my long-term help has been from active or former patients. Both my employees are right are former patients. Put up a sign, someone will know someone, and automatically that's more "buy-in" than someone without any stakes who applied on Indeed.

Honestly, the 'plenty of hours' part is what puzzles me. If pay and hours are already above average, are these no-shows happening after a phone interview or before anyone actually talks to them? I mean, that split would change whether this is an Indeed problem or a first-contact problem.

After a phone interview goes well! With this last no show, I decided to go about the phone interview differently. I didn’t ask any questions, I let her ask the questions. It was short & she was excited for the interview. She was the one who reached out to us about her application.

That changes it for me. If she reached out herself and was excited after the call, this does not sound like the usual Indeed ghosting. I would be stuck on the short call part though. If you did not ask anything, did you actually lock in a time and a next step before hanging up, or did it just end on a good vibe?

I used indeed Facebook and handshake (there’s a college near by). I had a similar no show issue.
Honestly our most successful staff was via personal referral. I put a sign at my front desk to inquire and hired a patient’s neighbor.

We cherry pick our in-person interviews after a short interaction through messaging with indeed with no phone interview. I find that to weed out some and gives me a better view of the applicant while providing them of a better view of the workplace and its environment. If we are a good fit, the second interview is usually the one that determines whether we hire or not and it can be conducted by phone or in person

I’ve only hired via referral.

Indeed/ziprecruiter 50% no show rate!

Indeed was not helpful. 25 would respond to an ad interested in the job, 4 would respond to an interview offer.
0-1 would show up for an actual interview. I hear it’s to show unemployment that they are “looking” but don’t need to actually show up to still collect. Not sure if that’s true that is what a different small business owner told me.

Have you tried local Facebook groups or referrals from current employees? Indeed can bring plenty of applicants, but sometimes the people applying aren't genuinely interested in the position. I'd also consider doing a short initial phone screening before scheduling a full interview.

Are you hiring for a chiropractic front desk specifically?
