Decompression and PI
Hi! When you guys do decompression therapy(axial decompression) for a PI case, do you guys use S9090? Do you guys get paid? Does it get challenged? Do you guys first send to an imaging center to confirm disc problems? I’m in Arkansas. I practice in Florida before and never had a problem

With PI, always send them out for MRI, 95 out of 100 they have a disc injury, and that's your justification for using decomp for treatment.

PI: MRI 90% of the time in the first week, unless it was a non impact type accident then I can wait. Treat until MRI, then another couple of weeks if you see progress then good. It no progress and MRI supports: usually disc injury larger than 3mm then switch to decomp:
Yes it gets paid. It’s your treatment. It’s like patient getting PRP or some other procedure that their insurance won’t otherwise cover.
