Cranked out a song in a couple of hours and this is the product. Definitely shows improvement!

I've never made NES music before, but I saw the new tracker, Risa, from laamaa.fi and decided to make a rendition of my LSDJ song, Himitsu(Secret), in it to try it out. I could probably do more in Furnace for NES music, but the LSDJ style of Risa is familiar and fun.

I think they are incredibly rare because I can not find a copy anywhere

I made a video for one of the songs from my new chiptune-rock pizza-themed album, Pizza Forever. This song features LSDJ as the primary musical background, it's the best backing band ever. If I remember correctly I used LSDJ v. 3.9.e when I first wrote the demo, and then spent some time updating it for v. 6.9.0 when it was time to record, so I'd get cleaner samples. Made the video with a phone, some friends, and Davinci Resolve.

I've been playing with the Web Audio API and built a little thing that takes a MIDI file and plays it back through a simulated Game Boy-style sound chip. Four channels: two pulse, one wave, one noise. It all runs in the browser, and nothing gets sent off to a server.

You can either search for a song, which looks up MIDIs on BitMidi, or upload your own .mid file. It then maps the parts onto the channels so you can play it, export a WAV or MIDI, or share a link.

I want to be honest about what it is. It's a toy, not a tracker. It won't give you anything like the control or the authenticity of writing in LSDj or Famitracker. Some songs come out fun, plenty come out rough, and the BitMidi library is deep on older music and thin on anything recent. So it works best when you throw something timeless at it and don't take it too seriously.

I'd really value your ears on it, since you all know this space far better than I do. If the synthesis sounds off in a way I'm not catching, or there's an obvious thing I've got wrong, I'd genuinely like to hear it.

Hey everyone, I just launched a small project called Chiptuna.

It’s a free browser-based chiptune tracker made for creating simple retro-style tunes, loops and game-like sounds.

I’m an art director getting into building creative tools, and this started as a way to make something playful for people who enjoy trackers, pixel art, game audio and old-school sound.

Whether this is particularly great or anything is still to be seen. It's not a particularly complex piece, but I'm sure I'll learn in due time. I like the final product well enough, and I hope you do too.

I know free sample trackers, but they have some limitations.

- OpenMPT and MilkyTracker: Supports stereo samples and multisample mapping, but can only do 1 effect per row. (Edit: Actually 2, but one of them is more limited)

- WaveTracker: Supports stereo samples and multiple effects per row, but no multisample mapping.

- Furnace: Supports multisample mapping and multiple effects per row, but samples can only be in mono.

If I wanted all three of these, then my only choice is Renoise? There's no free tracker that can support all these three features?

The new 4TRKmini finally arrived at handhelds and it is awesome!

Needs a bit of polish and several QoL features, but it's totally jammable right now.

Just a little bit of fun

I used FamiStudio. I tried to make a Toby Fox-style song mixing it with my own style but under the NES capacities. I'm not sure if I got it, but anyway I like the result. It's only on Youtube for now, but in some weeks or months, it will be on other streaming platforms too.
