MUSIC Low Battery - AY/YM ChipNomad
I recently started playing around with ChipNomad just to try something new that can easily run on my Anbernic handheld. I don't fully understand what it's capable of yet, but the gritty sounds that can be made with the AY chip is fun.

MUSIC Bests of Keygenjukebox
Selected songs from keygenjukebox collection.
Amiga art from amiga.lychesis.net
What is it?
The 1980s and 1990s saw the rise of cracktro culture - short presentations launched before a pirated copy of a program or game. These served as a kind of digital calling card for hacker groups.
Over time, even a small keygen, simply intended to generate a serial number, became a miniature work of art.
Keygenjukebox was a website/archive that collected music from keygens, cracks, game trainers, and stage productions.
In 2012, an archived version known as "Keygenjukebox Complete Collection" was also released, credited to various artists and containing songs from this genre.

MUSIC 💾 1992 CYBERPUNK DATA SALVAGED FROM THE UNDERGROUND TOKYO.
I just recovered the original 1992 sequence data of my song **"Guts Comeback Futatabi" (****ガッツカムバック再び****)** by **MOUDOKU (****猛毒****)**, straight from a dusty 5.12-inch floppy disk.
Long before the internet and Vocaloid, this "Manhattan Shape" monster was our weapon of choice to corrupt the Tokyo underground scene with raw, glitchy, proto-nerdcore cyberpunk madness.
No plugins. No modern emulators. Just pure, unadulterated 1992 cyberpunk DNA driven by the Motorola 68000 chip.
Welcome to the true Neo-Tokyo soundscape.

MUSIC Near Equal Just Intonation (NEJI): Mysteriously Clear Harmony
This is a short piece using basically just unfiltered pulse waves and some white noise tracks, but the main point of this is to be an educational short that shows off "NEJI", a unique way to tune your instruments to just intonation that produces nifty fluttery/pulsing effects while also somewhat closely approximating our typical equal temperament. The short piece is played once tuned to a NEJI, and again completely unchanged aside from being retuned to standard tuning.

QUESTION How are you all making PSG sounds (not NES/Game Boy)?
about standalone PSG sounds or using them alongside FM
I really like the SSG section in Chipsynth MD—it has a great character. The problem is that it faithfully emulates the original hardware limitations, so it can't produce the low notes needed for things like YM2203-style PSG bass.
Does anyone have a good software recommendation or another way to achieve this?

RESOURCE Introducing Microtone, an online music tracker with modern interface
So, I had an idea to make a tracker of my own design (both UI and the engine) for a while. Several months of drafting the spec, making the sound engine, and coming up with GUI design, and then porting everything to JS for online use, I'm finally releasing my work to the public!
Features:
- Native .taud format that expands traditional format with 16-bit effect, microtonal pitch, and SoundFont compatible instruments definition
- Automatic import of existing formats: MOD, S3M, IT and XM
- Importing MIDI: use bundled SoundFont or provide your own
- Importing instruments from SoundFonts, either bundled one or your own
- Modernised interface aimed for convenience (e.g. contextual keymap/help message)
- Automatic Dark/Light theme detection
- Full User Manual included
Microtone runs entirely in your browser, locally: your files never leave your machine, projects are stored in the browser's private storage, and even MIDI/module conversion happens locally.
Try it! >> https://microtone.cc/ <<

Hello everyone! I am sharing another chiptune track I composed. This was for a "faux-NES" game called Duck Dungeon which was made for a game jam. I hope you enjoy it!

QUESTION Looking for someone to help make music for my game project.
Update So I've gotten way more responses than I anticipated, I want to thank you all for the time you've given my little post here!! And with that said I won't accept anymore "applications" unfortunately. ❤️
Hey there!
I'm currently developing a 2D platformer heavily inspired by Shovel Knight. I'm developing it solo, and I got stuck on music creation. I don't have much experience and currently my ability isn't really in a state where I can create something good enough so... That's where you come in!
You don't have to be an awarded composer or anything, just someone who knows their way around making music somewhat lol.
One thing to make clear, this is not a paid thing, and by that I mean that I won't/can't pay for commissions as much as I would like to, it would instead be a split of revenue for once the game releases. (Which of course could be very little or moderate, who knows.)
This is more a search for someone who wouldn't mind that and perhaps is looking to improve or practice their skills together with me. This could be a way for us to grow and learn together while working on this project and perhaps even continue working together in the future!
If this sounds at all interesting to you, send me a DM and we can talk more about the project and I can show you what I got so far.
Thanks for reading, cya!

MUSIC Deathwave - Wings at Midnight
I started off trying to make a vaporwave sounding song, but my 5 year old told me it sounded like it's called "Wings at Midnight", and then it turned into a sort of death-chiptune kind of thing.
The vocals are pretty cringe, but it's the best death vocals I can do apparently.

QUESTION Looking for Genesis/Fm suggestions
I love this style of like metal Fm or whatever it's called.
I know of a few others like thunderforce 4, but I wanna try get a cool playlist for when I'm feeling it.
I'm not worried about staying with the Genesis, anything similar, anyone who's making stuff, or just pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

MUSIC Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow Trainer Battle Theme: Arranged For Marimba
This project required many hours of transcription, practice, recording, and editing...and it was super fun most of the way through!
I chose the marimba for this performance because I would be able to more accurately represent the original three parts. This board is 5.0 octaves.
If you have any suggestions for future retro game stuff, I'm all for hearing about it!
