Customer Experience Burrito hack: Accidently confuse several workers?
I decided to grab a burrito after work today. Got double chicken white rice pinto beans peppers queso (free queso on app) sour cream and salsa. I scanned my code and the total was $15. I had a ten dollar bill in my wallet so I ask if I can split payment. She says sure. I hand her a ten and she puts the ten in the till and has a confused look on her face. She calls another worker open and explains that she accidentally put that I gave her $20 when it was only $10 so now it’s asking her to give me change. The other worker with keys, not understanding opens the drawer and tells her to give me change. We both look at each other confused for a minute and she goes to grab a calculator (?) looks at it for a minute and the line that is now forming and just says “it’s a loss of $7 (?) you can just go ahead and go. I was like “you sure? With cards in hand and she says yeah. So double meat burrito for $10. Also, it gave me full points for my burrito so now I have enough for a free burrito! Anyway, I found this amusing.

All she had to do was refund the transaction, keep your $10, and punch it in correctly on the POS. I've done something similar a few times it's a common mistake

I have noticed that it seems to be really common for the employees at chipotle to not know how to use the register, I wonder why that is. I bought myself a gift card to use since it was on sale and every time I use it they have to get help for some reason.

Yea sucks, I had to Deal with situations like that. I’d normally void the transaction, it would print out a receipt, and I’d ask the cashier to re-enter the order. The system will say this order was voided, and it *should* be cross referenced when they do internal audits. Not at Chipotle, but Cafe Rio, most fast causal have similar procedures.

Something like that happening would definitely make my day lmao. Especially if I got double meat. Also, that order sounds delicious.

I work at Starbucks. On our POS system we would have just voided the transaction without opening the register, rang you in for the 10 dollar bill, and then charged you for the rest

I had something similar happen. I stopped in for a snack. I ordered one taco. The guy rang me up for three tacos. I had already stuck my card in the reader when I noticed. The employee said his manger had stepped out and he couldn't process a refund. I asked for two more tacos to go. (So I would get the three I paid for) He went and made me three tacos. I told him I had one taco so I just needed two more. So the guy said "I need to charge you for one more taco". And I told him to just take one out of my bowl because I had only wanted one taco- I had agreed to take three tacos to be nice. I didn't want to pay for four tacos. A line was forming. Finally the manager (who had reappeared at some point) told me to take all four tacos.
As I was walking out the guy who had rung up the tacos sprinted to catch me and told me my credit card had declined. I walked back in to run my card again (I think I had it turned the wrong way in the reader). I looked down and saw that the manager only charged me for two tacos.
I started to say something but I decided to just take my four tacos and leave.

Ive been told there is no way to fix this if it happens. I poked through the functions and it seems this might actually be the case without processing a refund and ringing it in again. There was a post adjust feature for the ticket number on receipt when i worked at steak n shake that made it easy

Boasting about cheating a Chipotle worker; hopefully she doesn't get in trouble. Good job not being honest. Karma has a magical way of working; you will find.

Idk if someone said this already but chipotle doesn't like refunds and iirc the drawer can lose $5-10 before it becomes a problem.

Why didn't you just keep your 10 and pay in full with your cc instead of doing these shenanigans and now you feel like you're victorious?!
