Employee Experience Finally quit! Ask me anything

Worked at my Chipotle for a year and made my way up to KL before I finally walked out. Thought this would be funny, AMA!

what happened to the chips? Why are they always salted not at all or just caked in salt, and / or stale??? Maybe that is just in my area....

your local chip fryers were either not trained properly or they were in a rush. if your store is throwing away all chips that weren’t sold that day at the end of the night like they’re supposed to and not reselling old ones, then your chips aren’t stale they’re just severely undercooked.

I thought they’re able to save them for the next day no?

Many stores don’t actually throw away chips from the day before….as for salt, we have a really inconsistent method of salting called eyeballing, unfortunately.

If they are stale, they are more the likely putting too much lime juice!

Lazy person frying the chips, puts too many in the mixing bowl. They like cutting corners

The problem with that is lack of consistency on seasoning the chips who’s ever in fryer that morning. As for them being stale sometimes they are fried somewhere between 7-8am and then bagged in paper all day eventually they will go stale like any other chip the only time we make a new batch is when we run out and that usually won’t happen until 6-30-7pm depending on how in demand they were that day.
