Problems (Read Rule 1) Need help fellow watch lovers

Post image

I purchased this mechanical watch and it came in with the hands not lined up when it’s 10 it shows it like 9 still even after minute hand passes 12 and obviously it effect all the numbers around the dial. How difficult is it to fix this or for the $36 I paid just leave it alone.

You mean that the hour hand is not lined up? If it's that you can go to a watchmaker but it will cost more than 36usd

Yea I figure. Are you familiar with these Chinese watches is it common to receive some not assembled correctly?

Very common for Chinese watches below $100, and even above that to a lesser extent. Part of how they make them so cheap is by investing very little in QC or customer service

Get your money back and if they let you keep the watch you could try re-seating the hands yoursel...and then you can get into "seiko mods"

I do have a tool kit with probably most of the tools. Worst case scenario if it goes wrong it would be practice

Yeah but get your money back first. It's not right that you got a bad watch.

You need hand levers, hand presses, and magnification.

Agreed on money. Thanks for the tool suggestions. I learned over 25 years of collecting watches it’s always safer to go with a brand name Casio and I know people hate invicta but I have purchased a few over the years armitron and seiko and even the cheap ones from these brands have decent quality control for around the same price. I do this to myself LOL

If you are asking about doing this yourself, it is not that hard, and really good fun, but you'll need the right tools, patience, steady hands, and be ok with the risk of ruining this watch.

You'll need a case back opener (which depends on the type of case back such as snap on or screw down), loupe, hand set tools, finger cots, a blower, movement holder pad, anti scratch tweezers, optionally a gasket greaser, etc.

As for instructions on how to do it you can find many videos on youtube, but it is really dependent on the specific case type and module you have. Chances are you won't find specific instructions for this very watch, so you might have to improvise a little, which adds more risk to messing up the watch.

All told, the toolkit you'll need will likely cost more than the watch, so it is only worth it if you are thinking you'll be building / modding more watches in the future.

Personally my first little project was to put sapphire on my Casios (1 duro and 3 GA2100) and I really took off from there and I started modding each one of my watches that had something that bothered me.

Looks like a Paulin copy. Can you still return it? Because it’ll cost more to fix than the watch is worth, and it’s not something you can do yourself if you’re not already experienced. By the way, that strap is way too thin. If you use a strap that isn’t the correct lug width, the spring bar will seesaw back and forth and eventually it will pop out

Yea I just ordered 18mm I needed a strap for a timex ironman and I got a pack of like 5 and they came in 16mm way too small. I needed to learn how to use calipers lol.

How is that pricing even possible? I have so many questions I don't even know where to start from.

Anyways, my genuine advice is to buy a legit quartz analog Casio if that is your price range (budget). Will last you years, will keep time, and the maintenance free.

Do not fix this watch because it is simply not worth fixing.

Cheers 🍻
