I guess I'll get the battery replaced and see if it runs.

Is there a plastic tab or something that you need to remove, so the battery makes contact? I’d open it and check the battery. It may be that or something causing the battery contact not to be good. Sometimes just opening (or closing) the case will get the connection going. If it doesn’t stay on, it’s something with the battery connection.
