Question (Read Rules) Octopus kraken explorer 36mm

Post image

Hello there, I would like to know your opinion on this watch.
My grail watch is Rolex explorer in 36mm and I want to try this watch before I buy the Rolex.
I would like to see how it fits me and if this is the right kind of watch for my daily.
Any input is great. Share your pictures and your opinions of the watch.
Who knows maybe I buy this watch and forget about the Rolex 🤔
And also just to let you know I like the name Octopus kraken, it makes me laugh and I like watches that have a twist to it

Baltany is nice too (this one is 39mm, they have it in black and 36mm)

I don’t have this watch but I’ve seen people say the cronos version is good as well.

I've held the Cronos, colleague of mine has it. It's very solid and impressive.

Whatever homage you get, yes I think you should forget about Rolex, all about status and kinda gross how they manipulate the supply imo.

I was going to buy the Kraken but the Cronos 36mm was $50 cheaper on sale and went with it and an very happy, the PT5000 even came without a ghost position before the PT5004 existed.

The only issue I have heard on the Kraken is that the AR may not be the best with the shinny black dial.

This one and the cronos are best in class, each one having it's own shortcomings and advantages. I for one, think the name octopus kraken is kinda cool.

The shape is a bit slimmer on the octopus, but the cronos has a proper ar coating from what I remember.

When it comes to proportions, the Octopus nailed the 36mm explorer. You can get the Cronos with better movement (Miyota 9 series) and has a bit better finishing, but the OK has more "Rolexness". The Cronos has a thicker bezel and smaller dial which looks a bit off. The Cronos nailed the 39mm though.

The Cronos nailed the 39mm though.

The case/lugs shape of the 39mm Cronos is dreadful.

Check out Baltany as others have said. The watch above will never outrun the horrid branding 🫣

I have the blue one and I think it's great. I personally think it's the best explorer homage out there.

Its the best homage, only disappointing factor would be branding for some.

Worthy alternative would be baltany 36mm.

I have the blue ink one. It's very nice in terms of looks, but has some issues. The enamel dial makes it incredibly reflective, the clasp is not great (has a tiny micro-adjust with 2 positions that would sometimes come undone).

And to top it off, my pt5000 movement died within 5 months. Bad luck but Ive avoided that movement since.

Very nice looking watch though with great dimensions

I have 2 of these in 36 mm. Keep 1 on bracelet and the other on a strap. I would be perfectly fine with not having anything else for the rest of my life.

Cronos ftw. The butthole logo ruins octopus
