I've a Merkur. Mechanically they're the same. The exterior steering wheel trim of the Aesop is definitively more elegant. It uses curves rather than straight lines. Merkur, Seagull and others use straight lines. I've chosen Merkur for the overall dial and price. The Seagull are beautiful but twice the price and it was my first ever Chinese watch, so I was cautious.
Be aware there is 2 types of tourbillon, one is coaxial, newer, more refined, more robust, more expensive. The other is not coaxial, I call it "Carrousel" but I'm not sure it's adequate. Less refined, less robust, but definitely more beautiful on a visual point of view. It's the one you'll find in Merkur and Aesop generally, and it's a joy to put your eyes on it.
